If I need to cut something in public and I know people are within ten feet or so, (like at the grocery store) I
do a quick scan. I'm looking for mainly women with babies or small kids. Note I scan and NEVER make eye contact.
If there are no babies or small children near me, I open the blade with full force just like I would at home. The whole time I will be looking only at what I'm cutting, no more looking around. When I'm done cutting I put my knife back in my pocket and still don't look around. I just act normal, because I am acting normal. The only reason I even scan is because I don't want to sling open a Benchmade Rukus with a small child next to me.
In short, I just use common sense. I have never had a stranger ever say anything to me about it. I may have had dirty looks, but like I said, I don't receive them cuz I ain't lookin'
