Schatt & Morgan Heritage Series

Is that stockman included in the mix? I like the small clip on the bone handled jack, and the extra pin is a nice touch. Wheres the backspring pin on the walnut jack?

They haven't officially published the glossy's because everything was not finalized yet; and the knives are not due out for another 45-60 days. So don't take the picture as written in stone (especially without a center pin).

The picture is actual size, this looks like 3 3/4" and 3 3/8".

This is the concept and now they will go to work on them.

Was the second HJ you commissioned from Queen a reproduction of No. 1149? I'm talking about this knife.

I'm really excited about the Heritage Series. When Queen puts their mind to it they can produce a first class knife.

- Christian

That is the closest one, Christian, but the proportions are different. We used the jack pattern they already had, and the punch was way too expensive, so we went with the simple one. The catalog Jack is slightly longer/thinner, and the punch is a curved forging with a laminated tang.
The shield is close, but we couldn't get the right worm-groove jigging.

Any updates on when these are supposed to hit the market?

Originally it was late March; but I think getting the Norway Iron (for bolsters) has delayed them. They want to make sure they are exactly like they were in the catalog. I have not heard a new date but a little birdie says late Q1 - early Q2 is what they are working to meet. But those with any experience knows that these dates are very flexible.

In the meantime here is the full glossy.

I'll tell you what, that Ebony looks really decent:thumbup:

Could somebody re-explain what Norway iron is please?

Back on the 1st page there is a link to a thread on this subject from last July. In that thread Elliott posted a link about "Norway Iron"
Or you could just google it. ;)

Dave, now you're really demanding quite a lot from folks by actually expecting them do their own homework.

Norway Iron

Well, that's why I asked if somebody could re-explain it:D

Don't find this on page 1 and the link doesn't tell me why it could be considered as a superior material to say nickel silver/brass. Why indeed it was used at one time, wasn't for a long time and now why Queen wants to use it? The historical context in other words.

Willgoy...

As far as using iron for the bolsters the benefit would be that its harder material and less prone to showing scratches ( doesn't mean that it won't happen ) the downside is that it'll be harder to polish to bring the finish back and it's heavier than NS.
