Schrade Cutlery Collectors Society

I hate to post on two year old threads, but I got a few of the collectors knives and would like to find more. Are they for sale anywhere???

you might find some on the 'bay have seen them there recently. a bit pricey but they are not selling at asked for price so the seller might negotiate.

The ones I got were from the bay at $35 each including priorty shipping. He is sold out and I was looking for a few more....I figured someone should have them for sale....

They are made in China, so I figured they are Taylor brand.....I heard they were selling them at the Blade Show, so I guess they are out there....

I would suppose it was decided the SCCS was not worth the effort. The web page for the project died way before this thread did.

It does appear that the website was last updated May 19, 2009. But someone is still paying maintenance fees for the site. Anyone here a member and know if the club is closed?

I heard on Talkblade that at the last Blade there was a table set up with the knife I am asking about and a yearly membership on sale for $25. I assume that may mean it is active or someone was just looking to sell off the knives?

I think if you read this entire thread one might make an educated guess. I don't think anything has happened with the club since May of 2009. Nor has the book on Schrade History that was racing to go to press before the release of the knife appeared. I was really looking forward to the book. I'm thinking there was a shift in momentum, or a change of plans based on early fan reaction. I'd be interested to see how many members the society has.

I can understand their closing the club if there was not sufficient participation to warrant Taylor's and Voyle's involvement/sponsorship/promotion of it. But one is left wondering what happened to the membership fees people paid the club. And why the site is still active, evidently still soliciting memberships. Has there been any discussion or explanation on other knife sites about the club status? Not asking for cross-forum posting, just curious.

EDIT: The notice announcing the formation and inviting Charter Memberships is still on the TBLLC website, unupdated:

If interested a note to Bruce Voyles might get a response. I am not.
bruce@jbrucevoyles.com
I note a link to the original club from his web page as well. Not the Taylor one.

One of you Larrys email him. I have a feeling I am not his most favoritest person. Better yet, someone who paid the membership fee email him.

....money can't buy loyalty...quality products engender loyalty.......likewise you can't create a sense of belonging or history where there is none..just because something looks like a Club doesn't make it a Club..same as if something looks like a knife doesn't make it a quality knife.....The Club would hold my interest about as long as inspecting a Chinese made Club Knife.....Hoo Roo

One of these knives recently was auctioned off so here is the link for what it's worth.

At least three people think these Chinese "replica" knives are worth more now than the $25.00 club membership: http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&item=390330692439

I certainly won't be buying one of these copies. I even sold my real Schrade 1985 BSA Diamond Jubilee Scout knife (http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/FLYERS/1980s/pages/SC84-47.htm) just because it too was a replica and I wasn't crazy about the plastic (delrin?) handles.

Your BSA knife was a Camillus made knife, IIRC.

....Dave, and he's selling more of the club knives....he must have joined a few times.......sounds like somebody has been stuck with a whole heap of Chinese ""Club"" knives....they must rate right up there as a collectable like the Harley Davidson handle bar ash trays of a few years ago........and about as useless as a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest....or a Foundation Member with no Foundations......is it true the ""Club"" meets once a month near the Chattanooga TN National Knife Museum....not actually at the Museum but in that little red phone box around the corner??..maybe the only history it has is that it is History.....LOL.....Hoo Roo

After lunch at Delmonico's, I asked my friend, Chester Good, if that was a Chinese copy he was whittlin' with and though he swore it was a USA knife, he'd had a few too many Kan-tuck-y Whiskeys at the Lady Gay and was about as credible as a horse thief. Just then Matt Dillon busted in with his new Meerschaum Bone handled 6-shooter and we had to ride off to save Miss Kitty from the off-shore manufacturing traitors who were trying to annex Kansas for the Chinese.

I ended up winning the day in a fair-fight against Mao Tse-tung. Even though he drew first I shot the pistol out of his hand and then finished him with my 1973 AA serial number LB7 made especially for corvette driving time travelers... but that's another story... :D
