Schrade FAQ: Is the answer to your question here? Steel, dates, models.

It was made between 1974 and 2004. With a good picture of the knife, it's markings, sheath, and box and papers if any, I can give you a better idea of when it was produced.

What about the Schrade 881 stockman? I don't Know what years it was Made. But I have my Grand Fathers.

Handle material plastic or bone?

Tang Stamp say Schrade Walden, Schrade NY, Schrade, or Schrade+ ?

Got a picture?

The 881 was around for a very long time. As early as 1950 maybe earlier, as late as 1986.

I was looking at the collectors of schrade r us page and I was trying to find a couple of knives I just picked up an 835y and a 708y I didint see any pictures matching these in yellow at least any help? -Joel

I am not a collector per se, but have used Schrade knives my whole life. Recently I found in a junk shop in outer Melbourne, Australia, a "stockman" style pocket knife identical in appearance to my carbon steel bladed "Old Timer". This knife differs from the Schrade as follows:

Handle black rather than brown.
Brass rather than nickel silver mounted.
Slightly larger brass rivets.
Handle inset is an elongated oval with an eagle, wings out, over a long ribbon.
The largest of the three blades bears the marks (stamped) CRAFTSMAN U.S.A. 95066, (etched) A.C.A. image of an anvil EDGE (Reg.Mark)
RUST RESISTANT

It is just a matter of my personal interest to know something of this knife, can anyone help please?

A Second question is : I also routinely use a Schrade "sharp finger" which I also acquired second hand (30 odd years ago) without its original sheath. Can you suggest anywhere in Australia or elsewhere that one may be available.

This is my first time on an internet forum (indeed I have only had access to the Net for a few days!) so please pardon any mistakes or breaches of protocol. So, lastly, how do I pick up any reply to this query? In registering I have given my email addres; perhaps an initial answer may best be sent there (I have sort of learned how to use email)

Thanks in anticipation.

I just got a Schrade + /over/USA897UH. This knife has genuine stag handles -not- the usual staglon. I thought all the Uncle Henry knives had staglon. I don't know much about the later Schrades I collect mostly Schrade Cut. Co.'s and Schrade Waldens. I found an 897UH in the completed listings on Ebay with stag handles but the listing said it was customized by Herman Williams. The shield on my knife is different, sort of a normal badge shield, definitely not a normal Uncle Henry shield. My question is this: does anybody out there have any idea when this was made? It looks to me like maybe 80's or '90's but that is just a guess. Would appreciate any info.
Thanks

HI, I've never done this before, but I'm desperate to find out some information about a knife I have. It's a Schrade, cream with a rifle inlay, 3 blades with "The Kentucky Rifle" "America's Own" "1750-1880" engraved on the large blade, "Schrade" "N.Y. U.S.A" & "CM-1" printed at the base of the large blade and on the back of the large blade at the base is "00016" "Stainless". Can anyone tell me how old this knife is or the value, or any information at all? Thank You, Nancy

I've just acquired one of these Schrade stockman featuring the Kentucky Rifle. The only difference is that the number on mine is 13978. Can anyone help with dates or any other information. Thanks. David

David,
The Kentucky Rifle (cm-1) was made by Schrade-Walden for the Knife Collectors Club in 1971. The club was founded by AG Russell and this was the first limited edition knife produced for the club,(actually the first limited edition knife period, it's what started the limited edition trend that still goes on today). They were supposed to be produced in a limited number of 10,000, but during production the numbers were all screwed up with huge gaps between them, hence the higher than 10,000 stamps on the knives.

Welcome first timers to the FAQ thread! Look for your answer here concerning Schrade Steels, Model numbers, Datelines, History. Please, even if you find the information you are looking for in this thread, do make a post to say hi, and don't hesitate to ask for a clarification.
Hi Guys,
I am indeed a first timer to this thread so I'll say hello to all you other Schrade afficianados.
I consider myself a Schrade accumulator rather than a collector and I have bought out MOST of the local retailers of their U.S. made Schrades.
My latest finds were on Sunday when I purchased a 330T and a 340T from a small obscure store.
The guy let me loook through all the knives but I only found two U.S. jobs.
No boxes or paperwork but the price was right.

Hello a new member of the forum here. Having read thru (well maybe glossed over ) all of this sections postings , searching for info about my most favorit hunting knife, I own.. I bought it new in 1978/79 . Hunting thru all the info I seem to have learned its a Pro Hunter.. BUT.. It has red micarta handels and was sold as a limted run of 500.( its number is 260) I did a google for info and found only one reffrence to a PH with red micarta handels and nothing about a limited run. I have no intrest in selling my knife , just wanting to know what it is . I also was wondering if what I was told 20 years a go about my Sears carbon steel folder was true. That it was really a Schrade knife? Thanks to any one who can give me info.

Woops! just found my knife! seems its in a 1975 catalog over in the R-us section( A HUGE thank you to its maker by the way .. wow what a great thing you have made!)
Seems its a CH2.. I think .. least the blade length and over all length is right. As well as the shape. course the catalog didnt have a discription.. Still its more than I knew befor! l still wonder about the #260 and the box saying it was a limited run of 500.

Thank you Eric.. But now I'm a bit even more confused! lol.Seems the knife I have looks like the Loveless, but mine only has " Schrade USA " on the blade with OUT the Loveless name on it and the name Shrade on the bolster. The rivits of the one I have are more like the production knife.. all solid brass, yet the handle materiel is the Loveless style!?! And again its numbered! So I dont know WHAT it is I have had all this time.lol. (except a great knife) I know its steel is some of the hardest I've had to put an edge on tho! But boy will it last and last in the field! Well thanks again for the info and I'll keep on enjoying my " bastard child" lol.

Can anyone here tell me about a Schrade #182. My friend found one in an old tool box and he said it is in mint condition. I have not been able to find out anything about this knife. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome CFA! It sounds like a Schrade-Walden grafting knife. Does the tang stamp read Schrade-Walden? It came in either black or imitation ivory celluloid handles, had a single sheepfoot blade, and was 4" long. These were made (if it's Schrade-Walden) from 1946-1973.
