Ok, I have a bottle of Scotch in my bottom right hand drawer (I know, I know, that's just how I roll), first one to guess what brand/age it is wins.

2 guesses per day per person, and I'll give a hint once a day till we have a winner. Anyone can enter.

First Hint: To me, this particular Scotch taste's absolutely awful (sorry can't give it away right out of the gate).

Winner receives any Kershaw currently produced, your choice (wow, that's a pretty good giveaway).

Not sure if it's a single or blend. Will wait on more hints.

Hmmm, since we're just starting, it is a single malt. That's the 2nd hint!

Need an age as well people.
 
My 2 guesses for the day:

Macallan 12 yr old- good Speyside

Talisker 10 yr old- Islay style, taste a little rough.

If you don't like the bottle you have, can that be part of the prize too? I'll send you one you like- pretty sure i owe you a bottle anyways.

It's a single malt ... but it tastes 'absolutely awful?' :eek::eek:

I don't get it! Can this be? It strains my naive belief in the fundamental 'rightness' of the natural world.

Single malt ... just can't be awful!

I'm going to conclude that something is wrong with your taste buds. I hope you can be seen by a doctor, and soon. This condition sounds terrifying.

Maybe ... Lagavulin 16? People are sometimes overwhelmed by its mature charms.

EDIT: OK, Saberman got there ahead of me. Maybe Laphroig 10? Also strong ... and just a bit young.

EDIT EDIT: Doggone it! Keith H got that one. No more kidding around! Aberfeldy 15 (present in JW, though few know this) or Tamnavulin 10 (just not enough real character there).
 
i don't know anything about scotch...i had to google it just to get a name so it'll be a miracle if i win but here goes.....ryan

Suggestion to learning scotch. Before you go and buy your self that $50 bottle Single Malt that's almost old enough to put you in jail in most States. Go to a bar and try $50 worth of Different Scotch's. Do the "Tour of Scotland" in a sitting or two, learn what style you like, and refine from there. You'll be happier and learn lotz.
