Scotch Contest

so what you choose? huh? huh? huh?

My final decision has been made... :)

It was a tough choice between a ZT0200 and the Nakamura.
I know, the two can't really be compared, since they fall into a totally different category, in which they are both top of the line.
Because I live in the city, it would be a bit not-done to take the ZT with me every day because it isn't really “cheeple-friendly”.
And because there isn't much room in my pockets most of the time(cell phone, keys, wallet,...) the ZT would only be used in holidays i'm afraid. And then alone the ones close by, because of the risk of airport security confiscating it.

This made me choose for the very nice looking Nakamura, with extremely good steel quality. (VG-10 with an outer layer of 420J2)
Reasons: fits better in my pocket, ideal size and weight, looks perfect and not-aggressive, very sharp and still one-hand opened. And It looks like it will last the rest of my life. So I will still be able to take it with me at work and many other future occasions.
Most gentlemen-folders haven't got the one-hand opening facility, but I really wanted that feature with it, because it has many advantages which I've learned to appreciate even more the last few months.(Have had a bike accident, so I am not able to use my right arm fully for another amount of months)
And the patterns in the wood and bolsters look absolutely awesome.

You only have to ask if you want even more arguments for my choice:D

I don't want to repeat myself too much, but... thanks again Thomas!
(when I woke up this morning, I wasn't completely sure if I maybe had only dreamed all this :)

Not a single reaction jet...
I hope that doesn't mean that nobody here likes my choice, and would have picked another model himself?

Not that I'm doubting the choice/qualities of the Nakamura or something, more the opposite...:)

Don't worry about it. The Nakamura is an all but forgotten design but your mention of them will probably start a lot of people thinking about buying one. I for one think they are very nice knives and was actually trying to score one yesterday on popular auction site.

I just "discovered" the Nakamura a few days ago at my knife store. Must have been hidden away at the back of a display somewhere, because I'm sure I would have noticed it before. Great choice!. It's on my list now as one my next acquisitions.

as far as production modern gentleman knives go, the Nakamura is a great choice. Nice wood (and bolsters), smooooth opening and great VG10 blade.

Thanks, I will certainly make a photo-report about the knife when I've received it.
Although it will possibly take until the end of February before I will find the time to make that, because I'm having exams until then.
