Scrap Yard 511 (SYKCO 511) - did you get one?

I'm really fighting off the urge to order a 511. Affraid it might start another knife company addiction ;)

Hey BigF scroll down the page a ways. Jerry posted a picture up of the same handle the dog father uses which is what the basic 6 is using as well. I believe the dogfather uses the same size handle as the Busse 11.

Thanks. I was sure it was the smaller handle (Wondering Why they chose to use the small handle on the 5 inch blade).

I have never held one of the smaller ones. That is the only thing that stopped me from ordering the 511.

Very cool and convenient knife size.. a bit bigger than my F1 and slimmer than my BK2

Got my 511 shipment in. I ordered a bunch of them, gave one to each of my sons, one for myself, and some more to hold on to and decide later what to do with them- maybe replacements for whenever one goes over the boat into the lake, or some such thing. Very nice, I intend to grind my own down a bit further, just a personal thing, and also strip it down, followed by a patina.

I had only one minor setback on my own user, because my hands are unusually large. When I get sized for gloves, I put my palm on the chart, I'm always well beyond the ability of the chart to measure- - I have to get the largest size available in any gloves made, so I ran into the same thing with this knife too. The little duck-head thingy at the end of the handle got in the way of my pinky. I ended up cutting off the duck beak, and now it feels just like my old bayonette that went with my weapon when I was in the service (vietnam era, so you old-timer spec ops guys can figure which bayonette handle I might be talking about). After cutting off the duck beak, it felt like I was holding my old bayonette, an old friend I used to carry as my EDC for a long time. Nice, familiar feeling, I like it a lot. Of course, the blade bears absolutely no resemblance to my old bayonette, but the feel in the hand is still superb, and I do like the blade, even though I intend to grind it down a bit..... It's an ideal size for the light-duty camp stuff I intend to use it for, well done....

I got my 511 in today also, I have medium sized hands and it fits perfectly! This knife is light and nimble in the hand, the resc handle is comfotable and it barely weighs anything! its gonna be a great knife.

Awesome pic!!!! Is the choil actually usable?? Looks much better executed than the stock 511s...

Mine should be here soon - cant wait!

Yes it is, the choil is inline with the handle, so theres no awkward pinchpoint (what the stock ones look like). I have been slicing air with it all night, cant believe how light it is. For the price, you cant go wrong with this one!

I ordered one yesterday and it shipped today. I was expecting a several week delay.

I've been using mine this hunting season. No animals down, just general camp stuff and harvesting some fat wood. Have to say I like it a lot. Kind of like an RMD light. My hand just fits the handle. Hand isn't going anywhere once I grip it. Also got an excellent azwelke sheath for it. It's a winner in my book.
