Scrap Yard Knives Is Proud To Introduce Their Latest Model: "The Dirty Trick 12" Coming Sunday May 1, 2022 at 9:00pm Eastern

Forgot to specify: “lighter than expected” = good thing for me.

I might do some paracord and tape combo to add a butt/swell/beak to the end of the handle. Hope it doesn’t end up making a hotspot. Maybe I finally need to buys some F4 tape. Does anyone know how well that self-fusing tape works on/with Res-C?

I love the feel of Res-C handles, but the shape of them hasn't been the best for me.....So I have wrapped most of my blades from them.
I have a few pics/posts here with them. (I'm at work now)

To answer your question. The silicone tape sticks to Itself.
So I will add the filler material, whether it's tape, cord, tubing, jute, etc..... then wrap the silicone tape Over it.

Works great, and I love the feel.

Awesome. I know it fuses to itself, but does it stick/grip to the Res-C at all? Or will it have a tendency to shift or slide on Res-C while only being fused to itself? I’ve never actually used that style of self-fusing silicone tape.

I love the regulator style handle shape, so I’ll probably just add a few loops of paracord through the lanyard hole to the belly side of the handle for a beak and then add tape over it to keep it in place and smooth it out.

It might shift a tiny bit, but I haven't ever noticed.
I think the secret is to stretch it out and go super tight on the first layers, then relax it over the final layers.

It's sticky/tacky at first, but after dust and whatnot sticks to it, it smooths out as far as feel.
it's comp to the Res-C

*I'm assuming I'll tape the butt of mine too, once i get it

Love mine, it's a beast of a chopper and the handle seems to be the softer Res-c compared to the harder TNT-15 Res-c. Couldn't figure out which I wanted more so I ended up with a pair of them, love the Scrap Satin on this one... pretty much the BIG Satin Finish of yesteryear that I've been missing for a while. Keep em' oiled though, mine had just a hint of rust on the satin... scotch brite pads are your friend.

WOW!!! Weight and balance are amazing! This thing actually feels FAST—definitely ground extra slicey. Not as fast as a B11, but honestly, even side-by-side they’re much closer in handling than the difference in thickness, height and length would suggest. An indestructible berserker machete! WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Dip the wrap in clear flex seal. Let it drip dry overnight. Comes out nicer than you might think. Haven't tested its durability yet but easy to replicate again on the cheap with the little pint can of flex seal (home depot or lowes sells it)

I haven't got to that yet but will report back with results soon as it drys up a bit

I'm sitting here with my popcorn...happily waiting.

*I'll gladly buy you a bottle of Whiskey for that post, should you ever make your way down to sunny South Texas.

I'm not as fun a drunk as Jerry. I tend to get too rowdy so I normally stear clear of most stuff now days

Jerry:

I’ve encountered a series of rather disturbing realizations.

First was the problematic issue of the DT12 offered at a scandalously low price, which made just about any rationalization for buying one irresistible. Predictably, I had no real choice in the matter and succumbed.

Next came my first-hand experience with the DT12, which of course combines fast-handling features like a straight handle, distally tapered fore-blade and full-flat grind, together with 12” of .27” thick, 2” wide stock. Unexpectedly (for me at least) the melding of these design features has resulted in a knife big and fast enough to upset the apple cart of all prior Bussekin.

Now projecting forward, I can see that when these knives hit the website in a more permanent offering, I will be compelled to buy more, based on my boundless satisfaction with the first one.

This is where the snowball leaves the rails and begins careening crazily down the slippery slope.

If, heaven forbid, the knife is then offered in INFI, in the now-typical array of coated, stonewashed and comp finishes, I will be forced to score multiple additional copies.

Finally, and truly the ultimate horror of horrors, should a special hand-applied satin INFI version then come to the market, I fear my current personal investment plan will be cast into an irrevocable spiral of doom.

Please tell me this gathering storm of financial devastation is not a real-world eventuality.

Yours in stanching rampant nuclear proliferation,
Will York
