ScrapYard Knives

I bought a Scrapper 7 through the website more than a year ago. At the time, I didn't realize I was buying something out of stock. I got an email a day or two later saying that it was out of stock and I could cancel the order or they would fulfill it when they had one. I think I asked them to let me know when they had one and was surprised to get a notice maybe two months later that they had shipped me one and charged my card.

The process wasn't what I expected, but it wasn't a big deal.

The knife was very thick and seemed indestructable. It wasn't much of a cutter though -- it seemed more like a funny shaped hatchet than a knife to me. I carried it a little and went camping with it, but never really found a use for it.

I eventually decided it wasn't for me and sold it for more than I paid for it, which seems to be the norm.

Another thing these knives have that is unique is they are covered against accidental damage as well. So, short of losing the knife, or being buried with it, it will be covered forever!!!

Pretty much all knife companies have a long list of discontinued and highly desirable models, as well as a devoted, and sometimes annoying fan base. Busse are a little bit quirkier and elusive, but the process if you want the knives is the same. Figure out what you want, look for it and buy it. That's what I did. I didn't have to deal with any cultishness or get into any cliques. I have contacted warranty with ease and success, and I have also had a lot of generous, free work done on my knives even when I offered to pay.

The claims that they are hard to contact or don't respond to warranty issues are very false, in my experience. If they aren't offering what you want, look for it. Same as with any knife. No need to deal with the fans at all, so no need to be so whiny.

Look at the 1st, 2nd and last sentences of my original post to my thread. I didn't think I was being whiny. I think I did find the knife(DFLE) I wanted but, when I went to the place I THOUGHT was where you bought them, I found out differently after 100+ posts and a few hijackings. So now that I understand the philosophical journey involved in buying one of these knives, I can get on with doing that which WAS posted several times WAAAYYYY back there!!!!!

wow i never realized someone would have such a anal comment in the contact area. People like that i guess dont feel they need the buisness.Ill bet there are 100 guys here that could sell you a better knife. JMHO

Yeah, I just bought a Customized Ranger, $$ going out tomorrow, a Kershaw Outcast and made contact with another maker here who will be contacting me tomorrow to iron out the details on a 15+ inch beast of a knife. I also have a BGoode Knife coming here next month or so and a Sean O'hare within 60 days or so. A little delay on that one but well worth the wait.

When I get my knives and my server issues taken care of, I'll post some group pics. I have wanted to do this for a while but problem after problem with my computer.

swamprat's latest chopper was the chopweiller (7+" blade). they sold for approx. $197 plus shipping ($20=$217 total). here at the exchange i've seen them as low as $200 shipped! very good deal imo. i know it's not a scrapyard, but still comes in at a good price point.

good luck with your chopper quest!

pics are from the swamps company pic.'s. if it ain't cool, i'll take em down.

NO REGRETS!

My post was a reply to the general tone and complaints of the entire thread, not directly towards yourself.

I just wanted to make it clear that getting a Busse/SYKC/SWKW, even a particular model, is not as hard as people make it out to be, and that you don't have to be some sort of fanatic or fan club member to enjoy their knives, which are among the best available. Don't for a second doubt it.

I have purchased one of my Busse blades direct from Busse with absolutely ZERO problems. As a matter of fact it was a pleasure to talk to them and do business.

I also purchased a Busse from the Exchange. It took some time looking for the exact knife I wanted but that was part of the fun for me.

Currently I am on the hunt for another blade and I am sure I will continue after that. If you want a knife in 2 days that is pumped out by the thousands weekly, then go ahead.

Otherwise, I recommend the Busskin line of knives to anyone.
