SDFK is Glorious

Extra HDMC scales weren't in use so decided to put them on the SD. The original scales came off easier than any other carothers I've swapped before and no issues with these and sheath fitment/operation.

I wondered if anybody would catch that . Love that little knife . I watched Aaron's YT videos for years . Him starting from scratch moved me to buy one of his knives. I thought it would make a great combination. Thks
I have given both my bro and his boy a Resolute III. Aaron's videos over the years have been inspirational (similar to the paths of the Grimsmo brothers). His heat treat tests were fantastic! I'll post my RIII here, when my SDFK arrives later today 🍻

Your gonna love the SDFK. My favorite. No frills , no fuss , just a pure beast that has good balance and fits my hand like a glove . I stropped mine to hair popping. Yeah , when Aaron bought a machine that he rebuilt, I was like , I got to help him . Awesome little knife .

SDFK just in. Agreeing completely with H Hawg2wild , initial impressions are fantastic balance and a *stellar* full grip for my med hands (7.5 gloves). Not as heavy as expected, even sans skeletonizing, but there's bias as it's compared to some thick Busse kin in house. Bang for buck is tremendous when understanding CPK as a company, and D3V.

Relative to the HOG B8, despite some obvious differences, their blade shape and cutting edges are quite similar. The HOG B8 balances at the front of the choil, making it a potent chopper for it's size when swinging from fully on the Res-C. But I have no doubt that the SDFK will hold its own.

And a couple of other comparison shots (including with Gough, as mentioned ^ )

Love pictures. I still can't get over how light the SDFK feels in the hands , it just looks heavier. That is what I really love about this knife . It feels solid but handles great . I keep finding myself taking it out and , dare I say it ? " fondling it . Swing , Saber stab ,reverse grip. I'm 62 and feel like a boy at Christmas. I've always been fascinated with knifes . Grew up watching my Dad sharpen buck knives on a arkansas black translucent stone . memories . Love the craftsmanship. Only a machinist pays this much attention to details . I admire and respect that . best bang for the buck in knifes . Just take my money . I'm in .for someone who has more guns than knives Dang , I'm becoming a knife nerd . You got a good collection started there .

Honestly I can't imagine too many scenarios where the signature wouldn't be just marginally better than the basic, very marginally. Hammering out near the tip splitting wood may be one that comes to mind, Swedges tend to make that operation a little more difficult.

Be honest , if you had to choose, which one ? Basic or Signature ? I have the basic and ❤️ it but I wish I could score a Signature too . Lucky dog , I hate you ( lol ) .
I believe cpirtle cpirtle has a good take above. The signature feels like a different knife though.

And don’t feel too bad cause a few enjoyers will end up with all 4 (ghetto and bowie). Then we can commiserate

I don't feel bad . I love the Basic. Especially in unbuffed burlap . And I honestly, I'm hoping for another k20 preorder in the future . I had my chance but choose a manurhin mr73. ( no regrets there ) . I'm happy with the behemother and basic SDFK .looking to score on a Dek 1 though .

You absolutely should not feel bad, nor is there anything wrong with looking to score something you want. For some though, they think more about what they don't have rather than what they do have. That is a recipe for misery.
