I want a Signature SDFK.Hard to not like this knife. It wasn’t one I felt like I had to have since I already had the HDFK. But I am glad to have it. It is different enough to have its own personality.
For some reason, it seems even more impressive sans scales…nothing to hide the chunk:

Nice to have a splash of color as well. I’m not a “red” guy, but the (maroon) double red has a very nice look. And man do I LOVE the feel of unbuffed micarta! Mmm
The only other knife I have in this color family is my REK’d Infinidu:

A bit darker with indoor lighting

Understood and editedPlease let's not turn this thread into an extension of the Buy/Sell/Trade thread. Let's just talk about the knives...and conduct commerce elsewhere.
The Behemother is the serious mother.Standard78
DId you do some work with each side by side?...I'd be interested in your impressions if you have. That Behemoth is one serious mother...
I bet it's going to remove limbs very efficiently....from your enemies.I really am curious to see how well the K20 will work for brush and limbing![]()
Well, thanks for that reply, but that was not the answer to the question I askedThe Behemother is the serious mother.
I actually sold my Behemoth when I got the Behemother. The reason for my personal choice was simple, the MC fit perfectly in my role as a Large Camp Knife (9-10" blade do-all backwoods knife). Right size and the weight is something I'm used to packing around.
For me, the Behemoth wound up on the 'bigger/heavier than I want to carry while backpacking, so it was relegated to 'better than MC chopping power', where I wouldn't be hiking a lot with it.
The Behemother just took that chopping power to another level, in that 'too heavy to carry on longer hikes' category. More raw chopping ability than the Behemoth and still light enough for swinging 1-handed for limbing. And the limited run rubber inlay scales are not only a thing of beauty, they're my absolute favorite in use of all the scales I've tried (Terotuf being my 2nd, but also had/have/tried ECAM, Micarta and Ebonite).

I only split a 1 foot piece of doug fir 4x4 so far with the SDFK and it splits just as nice as the Behemoth. I haven’t chopped with it yet because I’m in the middle of moving, but I do have an old baseball and golf ball that are just begging for a whooping.Standard78

Totally understandable.B bluemax_1
The reason I am somewhat more interested in the performance of the shorter, less heavy of the "efficient" for their size / do it all" knives is that I have long arms relative to my torso / frame. Over the years, (as we've discussed), climbing, lifting, martial arts etc have taken a toll on my shoulders and elbows to some degree. It's much less stressful for me to work with, say, a 12" machete vs. an 18" machete....and for the same reason, a shorter stockier piece would work better for me than one where the lever / fulcrum / center of gravity are placed further out from my core, for lack of a better way of expressing it.
(Well that and the fact that I'm a hothouse flower.)
I think they're both pretty awesome and I'd be hard pressed to give either one up...but I can see your reasoning.Totally understandable.
I think in that respect, it's why I sold my HDFK, but am keeping the SS SDFK. It tips the scales enough (for me) in the chopping category, despite not really being a whole lot bigger.
