The pair of SDFK’s are really big! Way bigger than the Basic FK 5” and the HDFK. I can’t wait to next weekend to do some wood working….I think the Basic FK and the SDHK are excellent choices for camp knives, I don’t think that my pair of HDFK’s may ever leave the safe, too pretty with that “blood groove”.

I took a quick hike with this one over the weekend. It's definitely on the heavy side for a walking knife but not too bad. I think I'll save the SDFK for the backpack and stick with a Kephart as a hiking knife. It will have plenty of fire prep work with the cold weather coming in soon.

The weight is perfect for light chopping. Choking back on the handle makes this blade feel even bigger than it is.
I tried to give it a little wear. But this stonewashed finish just cleans up like new. It gonna take a lot more beating.
The SDFK is looking like it will be my go to camp wood processing knife. I think it will also be perfect to take on hikes in search for a good walking stick.

IMO it feels more like a short chopper than a large knife, especially when you choke back on the handle.

It does chop like a chopper. But it cuts like a big knife! I brought it into the kitchen to slice a tri-tip. That is when the CPK geometry shines. I’m not saying that it’s a chef knife. But it can slice pretty damn good. The SDFK is a real do it all camp blade.
