Searching for a 124

...  ... GOOD LORD! ! ! ! ! ... Now they are findin' 124's that SHOOT TOO??????? ...

Yep...that's why they don't have a blood groove. Accomodates a .22 short. But ya need to have the barrel nut version to really kick off the cartridge right...if pinned, you need to have the optional trigger installed. It's a designer option of a "discontinued" model.

Yeah, it's the 12422FMJ

Anyway, I should get my 124 today from Ira. It's the stag one. Someone here complained that they thought the stag handle was too long compared to other 124 knives he had. I think I recall that. Could be the everclear flashback kickin' in though.

Ron...no kidding...I am really gonna try to keep from going all over the map with this Buck gig. Get back to 110/2. But, I've been wrong twice before. Ask my ex-wive's.

Goose, I heard rumors of a 12417HMR, a flat shooting Frontiersman that makes short order of skinning, and carrying a Stag handled one during the rut is ill-advised :p

Dies ist Spaß und Scherz eingetippt

Thanks Darryl. Hope mine don't look like that. But whatcha gonna do when ya get something that don't look right but was made right? My parents still loved me, I think.

But, alas, I won't know until maybe tomorrow. Heard that the post offices are closed for Ford's mourning.

As for Geothorn...that's a bummer. Politics, sex, and religion. I'm guessing he chose the wrong two of those three.

hi goose
i was also complaining that time , the handle isnt too short it is basically the same handle as a 119 , the proper handle is a lot bigger , squarish and a slabside
but i am sure you will like it good enough to suck you in to getting another 'proper' one :D
the pics below show the difference the one is like the one you are getting compared to a standard one with rosewood and my slabside 119

...

I'm actually more interested in Turkey sandwiches than Turkey dinners...on Italian bread...with lots of butter & salt...sometimes a leaf or two of lettuce...but no mayo!!! :grumpy:

I LOVE turkey dinners! I buy only two kind of TV (frozen) dinners. Swanson's turkey and salsbury steak. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing. OOOOHHHHYYYYEEEEEE!!!!!!
Recently discovered deep fried turkey. Have never had turducken but want to.

But turkey sandwiches...awesome. Wonder bread or sourdough, salt, white pepper, lettuce, MIRACLE WHIP, and a few drops of Tabasco!!!!

It's rare to have Goose for Christmas or Thanksgiving where I live (NorthEast USA); Turkey is the traditional bird. There is a strange concoction that has been catching on lately [last 10 - 12 years] around these parts called Tur-Duck-En...It's a Chicken, placed inside a Duck, placed inside a Turkey...then cooked all at once...with various spices & seasonings...

Seems to have originated West of here; I don't really know the details...someone else might...but I'm looking forward to trying it sometime... :)

I do cook Turkey...low heat (~375*F); slow cooking...Took 7 hours once (big bird - 20+ #); but it was delicious...basted with butter every half-hour... :D

Chicken,
in Germany the turkey is the rare bird at christmas. Her we have goose mostly. But the three in one sounds interesting. I will call that to my wife to have a trial.

Turkey Sandwiches are not quite favored in Berlin. The police found hundreds tons of old turkey meat in different refrigerating storage houses ready to prepare "Poultry Döner". No wonder that no one eats that in the moment.

Herbert...
"Scary" in that we are your impression of the US. :)
Actually, I was just kidding as I think these gents here represent the spectrum. I got a chuckle when CJ posted something about us "Alpha Males" helping with the website comments. I am so not "Alpha Male"...more like "preppy"...LOL.
ANYWAY, the goose for Christmas is fine as long as your name is not "Goose" ;).

Goose, thank you for the explanations. I transfuse the impressions i get here to the whole Americen population. I take it for granted, that the members of the BF representates all the Americans. Or is that incorrect? :jerkit:

By the way: you assured me, Goose, I'll never have such a large white bird for Christmas anymore. I'll try a Turkey next year, hope that this Bird is not so fat as the goose wie had.

You are right BM#10...
I don't have another 124 to compare it to, but this one is grand.
The handle is indeed of the same length of the 119/120.
The 124 seems better balanced.
I'm impressed.

And, thanks to you and Darryl for the pic and link...

Here's my 124LE #8xx (don't want anyone doing idenity theft on my butt) and 120BR handle comparison.

That's a great looking knife, love the mirror polished blade and the stag...I'm suprised by the size of it when compared to the 120...it's more knife:eek: :D . Nice job with the photos.

Bet that sucker makes short work of that Spam;) :p ;). Preston

 Thanks Mr. P. and John...
Yep, it is definitely a different knife than the 120. Funny what that 1/4 inch or so of height can do to a blade.
I may try it on Spam tomorrow morning.
Thinking I may not mumbly peg it after all. This ain't no NighHawk
(poor Haebie..."Mumbly Peg? Who is she?" ;) )
