Searching for a 124

Dear Sirs,

I digged out this old thread to tell you that I am no longer searching for a red micarta 124/122.
Here are the frontiersmen I found during the last two years.

Thank you to all of you who gave me hints to find the two mystic red ones.

Best,
Haebbie

Nice herd of Buck Bowies there Haebbie!!
I really like the thick guard on the older knives. It seems more appropriate with that huge blade.

Nice to see a set of red heads in your 124 line up Herbert!

Thank you, guys, for your kind comments.

Yes, Flat, I have the same thought. Have a lok at the second from the left of the lower row. THAT'S a guard!

And have a look at the slim and short size of the modern 124 in the upper row too. The thin and short handle doesn't fit to the big blade of the Frontiersman.

Great 124s... You always come up with nice knives...

Sometimes it is a pure accident to find an interesting knife, just happened with the camo 124. I found it for a few dollars at the dealers offers to buy at once at fleabay. On the pictures it looked like trash. But Joe H. gave him a new life ...

Nice to see a set of red heads in your 124 line up Herbert!

... with the red ones ... that is another long story, too long for now and good for a beer or two.

Those are wonderful.

;):) Rich, that's my opinion too. :D

Best,
Haebbie

I am a big fan of Micarta; especially linen or canvas...and I have a slab of red Micarta waiting for a donor...110's are poor choice; they don't show off contours well...Like a 124 does...

I just pulled my black linen Micarta 124 out to look at it; it has been sitting a while...and I was surprised to see that it shows two 1/16" pins going sideways through the left side of the guard, into the blade...but not coming out the other side...and there are two 1/8" pins in the pommel...

Anyone else notice those guard pins??? Any ideas why??? I'll try to get a pic...

Here we go...It's raining outside; so this inside pic is the best I could do...

This is an "older" 124; full tang; two-piece aluminum pommel; black Micarta two-piece pinned grips...the two guard pins do *not* go all the way through...

Yes, Hühnchen, your picture shows the Micarta structure very well.
Micarta makes a techo look but not as hard as carbon.
But off topic: what kind of sheet is the backgrond you used for the photo?

Best, Haebbie

Hard to see: the black micarta structure at the 112.

Here's a closeup of my 112 micarta. It's still difficult to make out the details of teh micarta patttern. :(
