Sebendizided Sebendzioid

nope all SRM, Enlan and Ganzo knives are either 8cr13mov,8cr12mov, or 8cr14mov. Navy uses 440c

Ganzo has some knives in 440C. But then again, you're not guaranteed that any Chinese knife labelled as 440C actually uses 440C. I wouldn't trust them to tell the difference, since 8Cr13MoV was originated when Spyderco asked a Chinese contractor to use 440C. Low prices come at the risk that some details will be way off the mark.

the navy knife i have holds an edge far longer then my spyderco tenacious and sharpens up just as easily, and the only way i can explain that would be that the navy uses a better grade steel at similar RC. I dont have any kershaw or Enlan 8cr13 which i hear is 2pts higher then spyderco's and SRM's 8cr13 but thats what ive found of course everything is subjective until tested scientifically

SRM 710 is a good knife. it is NOT advertised as a sebenza, so I dont understand all of the hate. Its very cheap and is worth more than it costs.

Sorry....Looks like a copy to me, besides isn't the name of this thread "Sebendizided Sebendzioid". Someone must think it looks a lot like one.

So you bought a copy and tried to make it look less like a copy?!

You should not support someone ripping off Chris's design! I think It's bull*&^(, and I'd like to burn every one of these f'ers factories to the ground where they're copying honest people's designs and hard work. Do you know what it takes to bring a knife design into the marketplace?...Design, prototype, marketing and years of time and money to gain the trust and confidence with your buyers....And some piece of (*$# comes by and copies your design and takes advantage of all of your hard work overnight and profits off of ignorant people who don't understand the problems this causes for America. You want a cheap knife....Buy a cheap knife, but don't buy a copy of a well know hard working designer or maker! Expensive is expensive, cheap is cheap...Stealing is wrong!!!

+1,
I completely agree, might want to edit out the expletives though as thats not really allowed in the general forums.

The OP did do a good job on the modification though.

For those of you who entered into this thread under false pretense. ;)

Thank you.

I agree 100% about not supporting a company who rips of other peoples designs. Whether or not they advertise it as a Sebenza is besides the point. It's obviously a cheap copy of an original design by Chris Reeves.
I would love a Sebenza, but will probably never own one due to the cost, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to run out and buy a knock off.

might want to edit your post for language, this is the general forum.

people i understand that you don't like copies of american made knives but the 710 isn't a copy!
It's inspired on the sebenza, that's different.
For it to be a copy it would have to go under the same name.
For real, try one!
It isn't you spending 10$ on a chinese knife that is going to kill your economy!
I own a sebenza and lots of 710's have passed through my hands.
I have 2 right now.
It is a great little edc knife!
Oh...almost forgot... i also have pimped one of mine:D

Thank you...Finally someone agrees!

Might want to have a refresher course on what "Pimped" means...I don't think putting the cheapest G-10 known "blonde" on a Chinese knock off classifies as "Pimped". Would a "pimp" drive a Chinese Cadillac? I will say that it looks like you did a nice job though.

They are knocking off our Fox Knives brand over there too, and I am friggin' sick of it! I have people send knock offs to me and ask me to fix them all the time and I have to explain to the customer that it's a fake!

You're talking to yourself, dude. It's a knife - don't buy it.
Your ramblings aren't going to change anything.

That G-10 mod looks great, by the way. Good job on it.

have you tried modding the clip to tip up carry? thats my biggest concern about the 710, though im left handed so id be easier to drill and tap a G10 handle vs the steel framelock side

I agree and this one of the things we have the FTC for. Of course they aren't going to ban the importation of products like this but it why we pay taxes for them to exist.

mantzao: I love your mod. I bet that knocks off like a third of the weight too. I picked up a couple of 710s to play with modding and man, those steel scales are heavy...and tough. I love the jade ghost g-10. I am trying to make a similar mod for myself. What size bit did you use to countersink those lil bugger screws? They keep giving me fits.

Also, how'd you achieve that satin finish? That looks beautiful.

A while back I was watching Larry King intervening Karl Lagerfeld, naturally, the issue of counterfeiting came up. And his response was; I don’t really care, people who buy knock offs of my designs are not my customers, they simply are not going to buy the real thing anyway. His view was that to an extent, this is a free publicity, an endorsement, of some (cheap) sorts.
So, I don’t think those knock offs take customers, willing to pay upwards of $400, away from the original makers.
Just my opinion.

I really can't answer about the size bit mate because i had it made for me.
But i can tell that the screws are not the original ones.
the guy that made it for me was having trouble with them so he made it for torx7 screws! They're also a bit longer than the originals.
I originaly wanted the mod because the knife get's real cold in Winter so with the G-10 it becomes way more confortable;)
The weight is also greatly reduced!
Regarding the satin finish, i did nothing mate LOL. it's just the way the blade is:)
Don't know if you noticed but the locking side has been bead blasted;)

the idea for the mod came from here
