Sebenza 31 Converts?

So I switched to the 31 when I got home from church and started in on my list. Figured I’d give it some more love.
De-burred pvc pipe to re-plumb the kitchen sink after installing new sink and faucet. Sharpened my pencil several times. Opened lots of claim shells and boxes for toilet repair and new blinds in her home office.
I’m sold on the solid knife, it will do everything a fella needs a folder to do.

Elijah Craig will do that. Henry McKenna too.

(I have a bottle of that EJ barrel proof as well.)

I haven't had my 31 long. First CRK, too. But it's amazing. The devil really is in the details. But it's kind of strange, too. It's a right handed knife. This is probably just me but I have to slow roll it open with my right hand. However, I can almost reliably flick it open with my left middle finger. Maybe I should buy a left handed on so I can use it right handed? 🤣 All of that aside, it's by far my favorite knife so far. I should probably try and find a pj that I can carry at work without worrying about ruining the inlays.

I haven't tried a CRK yet, but the discussions here sure make me want to. A bunch of enablers, the lot of you. ;)

But, which for a first? Hmmm. I've been making a spreadsheet of the knives I have and blade lengths, etc. of the CRK to try to guess how a CRK may compare and how I might carry it, in a bag or in a pocket. A large 31 would probably end up carried in the bag like I do with my Buck 110s, but a small 31 might make it into a pocket instead. I have a desk job, so don't really need a hard working plain, but an inlaid magnacut might be nice to start with.

When I first joined, I thought this was just another forum. Turns out I was very, very wrong and my habit has done nothing but get more expensive. 🤣 That being said, even the large 31 disappears into the pockets of gym shorts/coveralls/overalls/jeans just the same.

I thought that, too, but then joined BCCI and started collecting Bucks. 😂

I find my Buck 110/112 too big to be comfortable in a pants pocket. I could carry it in a pocket, just don't want to, perhaps because it prints too much for me. Maybe not enough keys. 😂 I prefer to be slightly more discrete with my carry. Is the 31, with clip and inlay, a lot thinner than the 110/112? I would have guessed a little thinner, but not a lot. I thought of the small 31 just for the shorter length, kind of like a thinner 112. I ordered a Buck 500 Duke for a similar reason, thinner in the pocket. I've seen a photo here of the clip having been removed. Perhaps that would help.

Well, I don't actually own a single Buck so I have no idea. Lol. Not enough keys? Maybe we should start a thing for collectible keys, too. Ha! I don't think my L31 is to terribly obvious. I'm technically not allowed to carry a knife where I work because others people's kids do stupid things like slicing their hands open but I refuse to not have a particle separation device aka box inspection tool and haven't gotten in trouble yet?

I found some data: it showed the 110 handle at 0.62" thick with the handle of the large 31 micarta at 0.46", but the small 31 micarta at 0.49". The difference with the 110 is about as expected, but I'm surprised the small 31 is slightly thicker than the large 31.

I'm leaning towards starting with a small 31 and, if that's not big enough (or KAS hits again 😂 ), adding a large. Thanks for enabling my thinking process. 🤣

I went the opposite direction. I started with a L31 and natural micarta inlays. And another user on this very thread so kindly offered (read enabled!) a small 31 tattoo in magnacut. But I swear it's only for an experiment! I can spydie flick my right handed L31 with my left hand. So I want a left handed 31 to flick with my right! Haha!

Me, too. lol Since I've been flipping back and forth, I decided to risk it; gives me an excuse to go smaller later. 😂

Inbound from Spark: L31 Black Micarta Insingo Magnacut

Give me a few weeks to see if the conversion sticks. 🤣

I mean, it's not really a risk, tbh. It's an amazing knife and the insingo blade it by far my favorite blade shape.
