Sebenza, I just don't get it!!!

Anyone got a partially serrated Seb? Would CRK do it if you asked? If you asked to pay for it?

My large Sebenza is partially serrated. The serrations are shallow, almost invisible from the back of the blade, and separated, not forming sawtooth points.

BTW - how could you lose your fingers if the knife was stuck open?

I believe you could injure yourself while trying to force the liner lock closed. Also, an unsheathed blade can be a hazard in some situations if you are not actively using it.

I had sent my Sebenza in and had serrations added, and there was no mention of heat treating problems. The serrations themselves are pretty shallow and actually appear useless as far as serrations go. I wouldn't recommend them.

you really have to BUY one and use it.....carry it....for a while before you will ever understand...end of story!! :):):)
The used ones are cheaper....and still are near perfect.

Sorry for hopping in on the tail end of this fine debate but I've been away for 11 days.

What better endorsement can you ask for than Tom Mayo saying go buy one?? I always like to see makers who are very well respected in the industry make positive comments about another companies knife.

Part of the reason I buy Chris Reeve knives is because I got tired of all the QC problems I was running into with other production brands. I have a tendancy to be overly anal when it comes to fit and finish, lock-up etc... and feel that any knife over $100 should be built right.

I would rather spend twice the price on a Benz and know it will be a keeper than have to buy 2-3 BM's in the hope of getting a good one.

Sure the handle scratches up. The issue with the 'Benza is not quality. It is all that with regard to manufacture and edge effeciency. The problem is, I like to use my REKAT Pioneer II more. It is more comfortable, just as durable as far as I am concerned, cuts just as well.

Any Titanium handle scratches, especially bead blasted.

Most hardcore Benza fans like to see a well used specimen.

The beauty of the Benza is that you can send it back to CRK and for $22 have it refurbished to NIB condition, how many other companies can say that?

I have 25+ knives and 4 of them are Sebenza's so I'm not completely biased. I like all my knives for different reasons and I carry what suits me on a given day.

But I would take my CRK's and a select few others over the rest if I had to choose.

Sebenza, I just dont get it!!!

Yeah, and unless you cough up about $300, you aint gonna get it either.

Is the TNT the new Sebenza killer? I thought it was the Apogee, or maybe the EDC? I know it wasn't the BM 750, and never will be because they stopped making them. All the different Axis locks didn't kill it, nor the rolling/arc/compression/uber-whatever locks.

Sebenza; Built To Last.

Spiral Damascus small regular Wallnut Wood Sebi. Pass the tissues!;)

(For my runny nose and tear filled eyes of course:p )

I got to get in this i have a new large lefty classic sebenza my first i bought it cause of all the info i have read on the forums the same as all my other knives i have MT'S MOD'S Benchmade, Almar, Rekat, Emerson , etc on and on there for the most part all good knifes some much better then others the Seb is just better than all of them period it took a lot for me to dish out 350.00 bucks for a knife but i did i am very happy with it all my knives take a back seat to the Seb ...... if you don,t have one you just don,t know plain and simple go out and buy one you will be happy you did it is a user not made to sit in a draw

Well BlackRazor, sounds like you should be looking toward a Kit Carson knife soon.

Alot of people don't get what all the fuss is about with a "Benza".
But, if you have been around alot of folding knives and finnaly came accros the Benza then you would understand. Nowadays everyone is copying the framlock, so it might not be so "special" to the younguns, but for us people that have been around folders for awhile looking for that "perfect" lock we found the Sebenza.
