Sebenza lock up problem

Still waiting for a response from the seller. What is my course of action if he is not willing to do anything. If I pay to swap the blade I will have more $$ into this deal than what retail is on a brand new large sebenza. That isn't settling well with me.

You decide what your course of action is. I mean, what can you really do? Put the seller on blast for selling a knife that was tinkered with and essentially "wrecked" without disclosing the details? That is the problem, people talk a lot of crap about these knives and say all manner of ignorant things without realizing exactly how much hand fitting and finishing goes into each and every knife. These are also the same people that think that CRK is a 24/7/365 operation that cranks out knives all day everyday by the thousands. Ignorance is truly bliss. If these knives were assembled as easily and quickly as people think, they wouldn't cost as much as they do, and they sure as hell wouldn't be made in the US.

Which make one wonder why they couldn't hand-fit & finish the blade to allow for lockup. Stock removal's a heckuva lot easier than replacement.
Any chance they said it wasn't even one of their blades?

Yeah I guess that is all I could have done.. But the seller made it right in my eyes. I'm a little confused by this post. I love crk and completely understand their quality.

Maybe too much stock had already been removed for this blade to ever fit right.

Finally got the call on Thursday!

Need to call back and pay and hopefully I'll have it by late next week.

I'm really looking forward to you getting your knife back, Matt. I hope you enjoy your CRK as much as we do ours. The joy of a new CRK is a treat, indeed. :)

Got my knife back but they didn't send the old blade... Was hoping to resell that to recoup the cost of having to pay for a blade swap. Needless to say I'm pretty bummed. This entire process has been a pain in the ass.

Did you request the old blade back?

Theres two things that come to my head.

A: Anytime you get any service/repair done and you dont request the parts back you shouldnt expect them. this goes for knives, cars, boats, your house.(you dont ask me for your old parts back when I fix your car and they get trashed)

2: CRK may not allow "defective" parts out of the shop. their knives are "tuned" systems, so youre knife is now tuned to the new blade and the old one would be worthless to now as it was before, and they dont want people selling known poorly fitting blades on the private market. Just more potential for unhappy CRK owners and CRK warranty dollars

Or I could be completely wrong.

I recently sent an older BG-42 Sebenza back for new washers and new screws . Now I am thinking I better email them to return the old screws and washers .. especially since I read here the newer screws are off center and they only replace old washers with the new perforated washers. I prefer the original washers but they don't carry them in stock any longer. So I would want those and the original hardware back. So tomorrow I will send them an email.

Definitely let them know! I'd also call. If they don't return the old hardware, there is no getting it back. Also, if you didn't specify no spa treatment it will come back blasted as well.

I did request the old blade via phone when I told them to go forth with the replacement. The lady told me they could do that for me, she even put me on hold to ask. I messed up by not asking about it when they called to collect payment before shipping the knife back recently.

I called yesterday and the girl told me they don't ship the old blade back. I think she only told me this because they forgot to send the blade back. This way they are keeping themselves protected.

The knife is great and all but I can't lie and say I'm not disappointed. I did the final math with shipping to and from crk as well as the money lost on the blade and I basically paid $400 or so for a used knife.

Well new ones are what $410 or $415? So you're still ahead. Think positive. Enjoy that knife

Your knife was faulty , they told you that blades are fit on a knife per knife basis . I understand you wanting to recoup some costs and don't take this the wrong way but it sounds like you your mad you didn't get your blade back ,which by the way would of gave someone else the problem you had to begin with .

Crk are known for quality ,they have spare parts floating around eventually they may have whole knives floating around and people trying to sell those knives .Be glad you have a working knife .

If they had to fix it to correct the function of the knife it should have been a warranty repair. If the op paid for a spare blade he should have received his old one as well.

I hate to point out the obvious here, but will anyway. You decided to keep a knife that you knew the blade had been swapped on.
You made a deal with the previous owner that he would take $90 of the cost and you would take $45.00 of the cost. Personally, I would have just reversed the deal in the first place, but you took the deal and went forward because of some hint at selling the blade to recoup some of the costs. All this does is over complicate something that should have been very simple. Complications=disappointment in almost every case I have been involved in.
This fault does not really lay with CRK, their service etc..It's a function of your choice to keep a frankenza and spend more to get it fixed rather than to reverse the deal like I originally advised.

Live with it, learn from it...Use your like new Sebenza that has been fixed and enjoy it.
