Sebenza now in S35VN?

I am waiting on a back ordered Zaan right now . I SURE HOPE mine comes with S35VN too!

Reeek, I wanted the s35vn on my umzaan too. I called CR and tryed to special order one. They are about 4 months (as they make about 100 per month) out on the 35vn. Apparently, they mass-cut blade blanks. The superior customer service at CR - they actually went and counted all the blade blanks while I was on hold... took 15 minutes but I was very impressed! Anyway, just went with the s30v. I love it.

Just got mine today Sebenza 21 Large, Its date 2/2/2011 with a S35V blade, Its so Pretty for EDC, I plan to storage it, And I have Alias I come tomorrow.

I got my large 21 yesterday S35VN - birth date is 1/26/2011 I'm pretty sure. I called my pusher and he checked for me. He apparently has several of them, (plain large 21's) in the upgraded steel. I didn't ask about the UMNI

I received my Large 21 today (2-14-11) and it has the S35VN. I'm really looking forward to trying this baby out. The Idaho stamp isn't too bad, but I still dont care for it...

Got my first (of I'm sure many) large Sebenza 21 today. It was born on 1/26/2011 it has the S35VN also. Actually had my choice between this one and one in S30V. Decided to try out a new steel and a new knife. No safe queen for me.

Nice... Mine is already in my pocket and ready for some hard use. Right out of the box the S35VN seems sharper to me, what do you think?

It is scary sharp. Just got finished fileting a couple steaks. Wasn't gonna use it but what the hell, right?!

That's pretty interesting. I just contacted them about replacing my small sebenza's blade with S35VN (I broke the tip bad on my two week old sebenza :( ) and they said it's no problem and should be done within about 2 weeks.

I guess the back order is on the umnumzaan only?

Can you share the cost of the new blade with us?

Edit - see below for a large blade

Found two, both sold now. Dates were 1/31 and 2/2, interestingly. Both were micarta 21s. And just for the record, I bought only one of them. ;)

My inital order through an online store was for a Lrg. Micarta 21 in S30V, makes wonder if they will end up cancelling my order or shipping an S35VN model.

I think there are tons of 21s with S30V blades out there, and will be for a while. I'm interested that you're specifically looking for an S30V blade, though? I doubt there's a whole lot of difference, but would have guessed "new beats old" was the tie-breaker? :)

I posted in Gereral about S35VN vs S30V. Maybe somone's seen it?

Anyway laying my new S35VN large Sebenza 21 next to a few month old one (same model) in S30V, the S35VN steel appears much brighter (shinier) for sure and refined looking. Not sure on the sharpness, as both feel like scalpels when running my thrumb across them.

Neither have any use on them and are factory sharp. I was wondering if any of you who own the two blade steels notice the same thing or if it's just my imagination?

Just posted an answer in the other thread, but it's useful here - yes, absolutely there is a difference in color. I was noticing the same thing earlier today, comparing polished S35VN to polished S30V. It didn't really surprise me, I guess. It does appear to be more than just the better polish on the S35VN blade; the underlying tone is a little different.

Thanks for posting in both threads JNewell. I appreciate it. It was kind of puzzling to me and good to get confirmation. The S35VN is sure pretty stuff. The birth date cards say it w/o the CPM in front of the number. It's CPM though right? I heard that's better.

Like the difference in 154cm and CPM154 - which I've learned are 2 different animals (at least that's the way I've been learning here).

I'm not a steel afficiando so I'm learning as I go. :)
