Sebenza or Griptilian thread I read????

I know, and that's why I said "Rolex is one of the best mechanical watches in fact".

aghhhh.... kooool discussion about God knows what. But I don;t care, let's keep it alive ;)

PiterM,
Now I understand where the mis-communication occurred...

To you, "Tool watch" means "mechanical watch".

To me, "Tool watch" to me means "ultra-tough-can-take-anything-you-can-dish-out watch".

To me that is like saying my Dodge Neon is comparable to a Lexus. The griptillian is a good knife but can not and will never be in the league as a Sebenza although I do not own one.

As I stated before, the car analogy just does not work.

A stock Lexus will generally outperform a stock Neon.
The Lexus has a bigger engine, more horsepower, more torque, higher performance suspension, more responsive tranny, larger brakes, and more comforts than a Neon.

But, IMO, a Sebenza has no real performance advantage over a Griptilian.
The blade design of the drop-point Griptilian is excellent, as is the handle design.
It is simple one of the most comfortable knives I have ever used...and one of the best cutting ones.
And the Axis-lock is simply awesome.

I'll certainly give the Sebenza top ranking in several other categories however:

Resale value.
Long term durability (although both will out live me if bought new tomorrow).
Elitism.
Heirloom quality.
Fit-and-finish.
Fan loyalty.

Of course the Sebbie loses by a huge margin in the "bang-for-buck" category.

Allen, Sebby is sure not a "budget folder"... but life is too short to go for "budget options" only ;)

BTW, I'll be getting my Grip tomorrow... with custom made G10 handle, Ti spacer etc. :D

I laughed out loud when you posted a picture of a G-Shock. I seriously thought it was a joke. :p

This thread is the epitome of the statement "Different people have different opinions."

AWESOME!!!

The G-shock is a decent watch, I had one for years until it took a trip into someone elses pocket.

The new G-Shock Street rider looks pretty good imho, I love my panerai and my seiko's, but I would take this rafting with me anyday.

I've broken 3 Benchmade Presidios, I have a Griptilian, I have a Sebenza and I would LOVE for someone to give me their Toyota Corolla or Dodge Neon. I don't have a Lexus nor do I have a 911, but those would be great also! If a certain knife fits one fancy over another, more power to you. If you can get out of knives before you blow all your money, you beat me. As far as the strength of the lock, if you are causing the lock to fail on these high end folders, get a fixed blade. As far as Sebenza owners being snobby, that is over generalization as people who like knives will spend an unproportional amount on their blades.

It usually works like this for those who love knives and continue to purchase more. People start with generic blades, move on to Shcrade, Opinel, and other low end blades. Then they may move up to the low end of Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, etc. Then they move to the high end. Then they do to Microtech, William Henry, Moki, etc. Then they end at the Sebenza as their folder. I only say this being that I know a lot of people sell knives and have a selection of every major brand made.

And I could really use some reliable transportation now. If you want to send me your car, my email is NickZac1@umbc.edu

Thanks!
