Sebenza Overrated?

Definitely not from the business perspective. Although, that doesn't make S30V at 55 HRC perform any better, just like when a lot more people(compared to CRK fanbase) believed the earth was flat it didn't get any flatter.

My point is, you are happy with whatever they do, and more power to you. Insulting/attacking other members for expression their opinion is not necessary. You can't make everyone happy, neither can CRK.
You like softer kitchen knives, I like them much harder. Doesn't mean I don't understand a thing about knives or their performance.

Agreed, I don't understand "faith based" arguments vs. numbers and facts.

Must've been so, lots of respected and important people insisted on that ;)

Yeah that's what blind faith does.....

Facts will always outweigh blind faith in the end, the truth will always come out in the end.

Yeah, just hopefully it'll resolve more peacefully.

Sometimes you can take a horse to water, but you just can't make them drink.

Blind faith in something can overshadow the real facts even if the facts are right in front of them, that's just human nature and the pure belief in something.

That can be a very powerful thing.

You know, I don't really care what they believe in. I'm not trying to convince them that one knife/alloy is better than the the other or that they should change their opinion or anything.

Problem is, one can not respond to very specific question in OP "do you think Sebenza is overrated" without a dozen "concerned citizens" starting flame war, questioning integrity, implying you have no clue about knives, have hidden agenda, etc...

quick reply:

I've wanted a Sebenza for carry for 8 years now. I had for a brief period a small raindrop blued damascas decorated for a while and it was incredible, but essentially - unusable.

I was back in the market again recently, and I saw the CHRIS REEVE INSINGO and it was ordered in less than 30 seconds. I love utility blades and they nailed it PERFECTLY with the INSINGO. The sheepsfoot blade WITH a slight belly, - it's a perfect blade for carry. What hesitation I had was gone with that blade. I have to say, the knife is amazing.

I have microtechs, Lone Wolf (D2 Harsey), Benchmade (too many), Daltons, Protech, GT, Paragon, and have played around with customs by Carson, John W. Smith, Crawford (custom leopards), etc.

I cannot believe how Reeve can duplicate this level of quality over and over again. It feels, moves, and looks like a custom knife.

if you want a Sebenza (which i would recommend over the umnumzann) but want a true utility -- I urge you to take a look at the INSINGO. it was a custom project through artknives.com and Reeve. incredible.

Reeve Insingo

(( let's let people find the item on their own ... posting a link is deal-spotting ... especially when the dealer is not a paid BF member ... and the thread is not in the manufacturer forum ))

Religion is hard to go against. Isn't there a saying that goes something like "For those who believe no proof is necessary, for those who don't no proof is possible". :p

Well, if you are in a good mood, measurements taken with 0.001 calipers to prove 0.0005 precision will do as "irrefutable proof" too ;)

I think I'm fine with those numbers, it's the larger ones like 58-59 that serves as the "irrefutable proof" thing for me. :D
