After carrying a small sebenza for quite some time time, I am looking for something else. I am not looking to replace the "irreplaceable" but I want a new knife to carry for half of the days. I am looking for something that has similar quality, superb fit and finish, good slicing performance but also hard working blade...Yeah I am starting to describe the Sebenza but the only strict rule I have set to myself is that it won't be a Sebenza or any other CRK model. Budget: not above 400 dollars, ideally closer to 300. Blade length: 3-3.6". I am open to any suggestions. 2 knives that got me interested are the Lionsteel TiSpine and the Boker Sherman EDC so I would also like some mini reviews for either of these 2 models but as I said, I would like to hear other reccommendations as well.

The Spydiechef comes to mind; don't knock it until ya try it. Something completely different yet still familiar enough.

Are you open to new lock types besides framelocks?
Yes, I am open to pretty much any lock types

Demko AD20.5 (ti-handled model) would be my top pick.

You should also be able to find a TRM Atom or Neutron with ti handles for 300ish or G10/Micarta for 200. Great cutters, blade is slightly less durable.

Les George makes a real nice knife in the 400 range, either the ESV or VECP depending on how large you want to go. I bet you can find a like-new one for 350-375.

Quiet Carry, I personally prefer the Waypoint Ti to the Drift Ti, I'm sure others would feel differently but to each his/her own and really feel fit, finish and action punches beyond their weight. Also used to own a Spartan Harsey 3.25 which would probably feel very similar to the small Sebenza, could find a well cared used one on the exchange for ruffly $325 give or take. Also own a TRM Adam and have owned the Neutron, prefer the Atom but think they feel totally different.

Well, back in January zippifish zippifish (post just above) sold me a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 with M4 blade and aftermarket micarta scales. It's a great knife and would, imho, be a very nice replacement for a Sebenza at a fraction of the price.

Here's a picture of it taken with two Sebenza 31s:

The GB is a great suggestion.

While I love both the Atom and the Neutron, I wouldn't ever consider them anything but strictly light-duty folders.

Thought about that too but it’s a much larger knife compared to the small Seb, I’m really glad you’re happy with it. My next purchase will be a large Sebenza, at this point I have plenty of smaller carries and don’t need another.

I would recommend Tactile Knife Co. if I was working with that budget. I own a Rockwell in MagnaCut which happens to be my sharpest knife. The only gripe I have with it would be its small size, for some reason I fumble smaller knives and this one I've dropped too many times.

Small Sebenza alternative?

Without hesitation, the SG Spidermonkey.

It size and proportions are very similar to the small Sebenza.
The blade thickness strikes a great balance between tough and practical.
The build quality is exceptional (though I can only speak to my example).
Qualifier: Out of the box the action was gritty; I loosened the pivot, hosed it down with lighter fluid, then added a drop of oil. Bingo! On point!

I did not care for the pocket clip (you may feel differently) so I replaced it with a MXG (Benchmade pattern).
Every time I carry it I realize it checks all the same boxes as a small Sebenza.
I love the knife and will replace it immediately if lost. It won’t break the bank, either (compared to replacing a CRK).
