Sebenza Upstate NY

I had to look again..yea the small does look like a wood inlay.

You think macassar is the closest? I can't find anything else that looks similar to it.

This is the one I'm eyeballing https://www.knifecenter.com/item/CR...anium-handles-with-macassar-ebony-wood-inlays

I enjoy Knifecenters 60 day return especially if I'm dropping 500 on a single knife lol. I'll still keep an eye out for other stores but I think this might be it.

They claim " KnifeCenter Return Policy. If you are unhappy with your factory made purchase, please return it to us in its original, new and unused condition within 60 days (custom and mid-tech knives must be returned within 14 days), and include the manufacturer's packaging. "

So I'm assuming this would fall under 60 days but I'm sure it would be a solid piece with no problems anyway.

It looks close but it doesn't look like it has the gold anodized HW that the knife center picture has. At this point it might be best to post over on the CRK forum since that's there the CRK smart people hang out.

I apologize peter I completely missed your post, is knifecenter considered an authorized dealer? The only familiar listed dealers on the Chris reeves site were bladeHQ and knifeworks, and both listed the knife I wanted out of stock.

Also would knifecenter charge me immediately or when the product ships? Thanks for your time.
Yes the same knife. You will be charged immediately upon buying the knife and having it shipped. Anything beyond that, call the store you intend to shop at and ask them the question, anything else is speculation. KnifeCenter has been around a long time and they are legit, as are the rest of the dealers that are on the list here - http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/paid-dealer-members-list-updated-2-5-16.1089879/. You will have to do a little due diligence on your own part and email or call around and find out if what you want is available and in stock.

Thanks to both of you guys for the info, have a good day

The wood inlays come standard with gold hardware(micarta silver-though there are some blue). I haven't been able to open the photo so I don't know what inlay this is, but keep in mind that they have been doing inlays for about 18 years and different woods come and go.

Don't be afraid to check other dealers - Blade HQ, Knives Ship Free, and DLT Trading typically have a good selection (there are other well known CRK dealers, but I know the above are acceptable to name here. In the case of wood inlays, I would shop from a dealer that provides pictures of the specific knife for sale.

Have you dealt with knives ship free? Any reviews? I find only good things about them on google but they aren't on the bladeforums official paid dealers list. More
Importantly though it looks like they show the exact sebenza sold because they have many pictures of the same name with different order # IDs.

I have to give you credit I was just going to blindly drop 500 on a stock photo until you reminded me.

Yeah I agree I'm doing my homework and contacting a few different vendors to see if I can get an exact knife pictured otherwise I may be disappointed.

Go look on Knivesshipfree and go to the CRK page and you'll see that there are variations of wood appearances with the same wood. The one pic you posted may be a unique variation to that wood. You may have to visit the different CRK dealers to find one you'll be happy with.

Yeah I spoke with someone over at KSF and they confirmed they are all the exact knife pictured. I'm trying to figure out how to tell which knife is stonewashed blade, their description on their CR knives is generic

Description below:
From the plain versions or "stonewashed" S35VN blades with sand blasted handles-to those with damascus blades and lavish graphics, each Sebenza is individually fitted to the closest tolerances. Available in large or small, and dedicated right or left handed.

They don't denote if the blade with the wood inlay is plain or stonewashed and it's hard for the untrained eye to tell from the picture ( I know what stonewashed looks like just not confident enough to eyeball it under different lighting conditions. )

Your best bet is to call CRK and ask if a polished blade is standard on the wood inlays.
I've got three wood inlays and the all have a polished blade. I would guess that a polished blade comes with the wood inlays today.

Woods have polished blades standard, Micarta stonewashed
In some cases like the mammoth bark they had stonewashed uppers and polished lowers(hollow grind)
I have a small African Blackwood Classic MM with stonewashed blade that I custom ordered from CRK, and have never seen another like it. Not that there might not be others, but I have yet to see one. I didn't think of it as being unusual when I ordered it.
Still it never hurts to ask, and be sure you get what you want.

I've dealt with KSF many times; and will continue to do so. They are most certainly a bladeforums supporting dealer - username okbohn - and post individual pictures for knives that show variance from one piece to the next (like CRK with wood inlays)

I live and work in NY--not upstate; the area is called the lower Hudson Valley--and carry a small fixed blade. No issues to speak of. I have XM 18 3.5s and a large Inkosi and have not had a problem with any of them either.

Thank you for your post, it makes sense then because it didn't look stonewashed, but I prefer the look of wood so much I don't mind a polished blade.

I'm just not a fan of the Micarta.. the dark wood and gold accents just look like jewelry.. only problem is I guess I just assumed a polished blade would scratch easier.. but whatever, it is a great steel.. but I'm definitely not going custom made or micarta.

Already sent an email but I believe they are polished, they didn't look stonewashed to me but the description threw me off. I'm fine with polished.

Yeah I feel better now after reading the responses, plus I'm going down to the sheriffs office to apply for a carry permit ( which then has to be reviewed by a judge ) I met the guy who does the training when I got my hunters safety course done. So I think it's silly to even be concerned over a tiny blade, but you never know in some places.

Anyway thanks to everyone. I'll make sure to post a final picture of the knife once I have it probably in a week - ten days.

If you do a search right here on the forums for the dealer you want to buy from, chances are there is a thread or several already posted, detailing the experiences people have had. If you see all good and no bad, chances are that specific dealer is above and beyond, just about all the dealer emembers on here are excellent to deal with. We try and steer business their way as a thanks for helping to keep the forums up and running as well as being active participants.

Knifecenter has great service. I have spent several thousand dollars over the past few years and never so much as had even a hiccup let alone a problem.

Wanted to thank everyone and give a shout out to hhmoore hhmoore for the KSF recommendation. Here she is.

Very nice.
I've got a large insingo 21 with micarta inlays as a "user" (carried briefly, used a few times...but it just never won me over, so I haven't touched it in about a year. Can't really call it a user with a straight face, so I add the quotes), and a large 21 with snakewood inlays as my prize. I've always been tempted by the box elder burl, though.
