Sebenza VS Buck 110

Knock off's don't really bother me, I think they end up being advertisement for the real thing. Just like how the Fender Stratocaster is the most copied guitar in the world but people who play the copies generally end up getting a real one eventually. I know, it happened to me. And after handling a knock of Seb for a couple months I might decided to go buy the real thing but I do know that I would not buy one with out handling some one else's or a knock off for a while to get the feel of it.
The only thing you will learn from owning a knock-off of a Sebenza, is what it's like to own a knock-off of a Sebenza. The knock-off won't tell you ANYTHING about what it's like to own the real thing. There's no way a cheap knock-off of a $450 knife is going to come close to the real thing.

Of course you might find yourself so disappointed with the knock-off and so craving of high-quality as a result, that you will feel compelled to buy a real one. But I wouldn't suggest going the knock-off route.

Don't underestimate what the Chinese can copy, they sure have enough of our technology in their factories.

I can tell you I have owned many knock off guitars and they tell me very much about the ergonomics and tone characteristics of the original. I even own some knock offs that far exceed the original. Look at all the 1911 copies in the gun world, I'm pretty sure you can get a good idea of what a "real" 1911 is by owning some of the copies.

Different Strokes for Different Folks that's all. I appreciate your input though.

Thanks

Personally A Sebenza won't make my job of gutting deer any better. Although I'd love to have one in my collection.

failed comparison. I could get 100 bean burritos from Taco Bell for the price of 1 steak from Ruth's Chris. So, what's your point?

Sure has been a wave of Sebenza bashing lately. In multiple threads, often feigning innocent comparisons with inexpensive knives. Usually started by non-paying BF members. What is the deal?

The Buck 110 is a classic and was the first folder I ever got. It's still one of my favorites and a part of many people's collections.

I don't own a Sebenza myself but I won't knock it. It has superior steel, better fit and finish and probably has some degree of cool factor (even though I ADORE my 110).

On that note, you may find yourself carrying the Sebenza more but the Buck 110 can take a beating and is tried and true.

Ultimately the Sebenza is lighter (and has a pocket clip which is a huge plus) for EDC but the 110 is probably what you would choose for serious cutting tasks.

Inquiring minds want to know. . . . . . . . how long a thread can go if started about Sebenza, Strider, Chinese knock offs, "Is it worth it", etc. It will continue as long as they get responses. . . . . . . . . like this one. :o

i don't own either one, but aestetically speaking, i like the 110 much more than sebenza. blade and all.

Hmm could you turn a 110 into a Taurus SHO? The sebbie seems to be more Dodge viper to me, still the latter comes that way!

I had a Buck 110 when I was 10 years old, traded my slingshot for it. My very first pocket knife. I understand they have come a long way since then (1960) in terms of quality, but I really like my damascus Small Sebenza. I enjoy fondling it, and it cuts really well. Picture was taken when it was pretty new. Has a bit more character now.

Back in the day you could send any 110 in to Buck and for $35 they'd swap out the blade to BG-42. Should be quite a few around. This particular one came to me as you see it from the Buck Custom Shop for a little over $100 10 or so years ago.
