As Willi Shakespeare once said, a picture is worth a dozen words. I trust this will let you know which I prefer in the eternal debate of CRK vs. Hinderer:

I'm loving the pic, but answer me this..that's the Large 21 at the top right ? And the small at the bottom? Glad I can finally see the difference. I was wondering if all I needed was the small but I think I'll enjoy the Large a lot more.
Thanks a lot for this.

88% of you say the Benza is the way to go ! Thanks for all the help. I won't make another post for a long time I promise. Lol

^ The Sebenza's, are the knives pictured on the left! o_O

^ Quoted! ;)

I've noticed a number of people who post on the forums that Sebenzas are slow to open. I can flick my large 21 Insingo open as fast as any other knife I own. I generally do not flick it because there 's no real need to, but I can easily do so if I choose to. Sure, there's no wave or flipper, but once in hand, I find it very easy and instinctual to open.

Some others imply that Sebenzas are somehow 'delicate' or 'safe queens', which is far from the truth. Sebenzas work very well as so-called 'hard use' knives, as long as they are used as knives, with an understanding of the limitations inherent in ALL folding knives.

If I want to do some light prying with my pocketknife, I can use the large screwdriver/cap lifter on my Victorinox Pioneer that cost me less than $30. Otherwise I'll use an appropriate tool for the job, if available.

Jim

I have large hands and very large thumbs, and could not get a grip on the large 21 thumbstuds. But, based on two hand opening, it does glide, but not rocket.

Yep, that's a large plain 21 with a polished blade in the top left hand corner. Small Insingo with micarta inlays on the bottom left.

That large 21 is the one I would keep out of all of them if I could only keep one, btw.

Dang Halden, sweet knives man!

Look at those edges, so crisp.

Which one has been your go to lately?

Well one thing you may want to also think about between the two is the Sebenza looks like it has more blade length without the goofy oversized choil of the hinderer. I know hinderer makes a no choil spanto blade xm18 but good luck finding one especially on the used market. I see the big choiled hinderers all the time for sale but not the other way around.

Ahh okay good to know I'll just skip even handling the small then.

I know, I was just having some fun busting your chops...you know kind of like: "Do you even know what you're buying here?" :)
Lol sorry, hard to catch sarcasm over the forum sometimes.
^13 minutes. New record for Aquaholicc
I know man..it's hard ..it's hard lol.
Look at it this way. The Hinderer (or Strider) is a great knife for first responders or military.

The Sebenza is the ideal civilian knife.

That's how I always looked at it.
That's a damn good way to look at it. I'm definitely no "hero" I'm too selfish lol. I'll most likely go with the Benza

Having both, it is a tough choice which to carry on a given day. It is worth mentioning that, IMO, Hinderers are pretty comparable to a few other manufacturers in looks and function (but not really when you REALLY get down to understanding folding knives -which few really do-) while there is noting that looks, feels, or manipulates like a CRK. Every person has their issues... er... I mean.. reasons for making choices and if I had to be honest with myself, I would choose CRK because they are sexier. Plus CRKs are, and will always be, the yardstick to which all folding knives are compared to.

Still going Sebenza, but one nice feature of the Hinderer is that you can buy different scales(and other stuff) for it. Throw on a different scale and it is almost like getting a new(or different) knife. If you want something a little different in the Sebenza you need to pony up for a whole new knife-not terrible, but a bit expensive.
Amazing how much difference a colored scale makes , much less ti, carbon fiber or frag.

Yeah I really didn't want to believe all the hype at first but it seems like nothing compares to a CRK in buttery smoothness and just the little clicks and sounds it makes seem like the cherry on top.

Yeah you make an excellent point man..I can see how the sheer fact that you can essentially make any Hinderer you buy your own by just buying some hardware and scales.
