Second round of web specilas are up

Vinny,

I like mine as well and have used it hard for a long while.
I think the blade profile and grind is great. Heck of a knife.
I've always wished for a solid G10 handle on the Tempest/Sirus but I doubt it will happen as the Sirus line seems to be fading away. I suspect these knives require a lot of machine time and are more expensive to manufacture than the Vantage. So I see the Vantage and Paradigm replacing these two older but still great designs (IMO).

So get'em while you can.:)

One of the things that all these special low prices have done is allowed or more likely caused me to sample some patterns that had not caught my attention for whatever reason. I've been a big fan of the Alpha Folding Hunter from the get go but never warmed up overly to the Dorado or the Alpha fixed blades. Now I like the Dorado but I'm just not all hot and bothered.

So early last week I went ahead and ordered the 694 and 693 from the web special page. They got here today. I must admit to never holding one before and having snubbed it as a fixed blade option. Well I will have to admit I like it and will snub it no longer.

BTW, did any of the regulars pick up that Stag/Rosewood fixed Alpha LE last night. It was beautiful knife and now that I know and like the feel of the knife I wish I'd bid hight instead I took a page from a good buddy (low ball specialist) and low balled.:D

I picked up a few 191 Zippers, Designers Choice, Custom tang stamp and ATS-34 for $40. If you like the 420HC, you'll really like the ATS-34, especially at that price. I have some hunting buddies that are getting some surprises.

Nice Scott you have some happy friends.
I got one of those zippers. A $40 ATS-34 Vanguard...geez that's a no brainer.

Question: Does anyone on this board actually use the hook on their zipper or other Bucks with that feature? If so does it work well? Anyway just looking for some commentary on life with a zipper.

I personally don't use the Zipper knives. Don't much care for them.
However there sure are a lot of folks that swear by them

Got my tempest in mail today blade is marked custom with anvil. Now I dont know weather to carry it or not.Sure is a nice knife.

Fish,

You can always buy another or one of the $30 Sirus knifes in 420hc.
I've got a couple of the Prem. bladed Tempest saved but I EDC one and it's just a fine, solid knife. Enjoy.

I have used the gut hook on the Zipper.A Buck brother handed it to me when we were processing a big steer. It worked fine! I mostly use the gutting blade
that comes w/ the V52 Selector. That one works so well I don't mind carrying just for that one cut.But I've used it for many other uses as well.DM:thumbup:

I don't intentionally seek a knife with a gut hook. In my opinion, they (on most knives) do work but are a very limited feature. I did just purchase an Ergohunter Pro (S30V) with the separate gut hook tool. I was showing it to one of my co-workers as he was interested in a knife that could skin more than one bear without needing to be resharpened. He really liked the EH Pro and he is a gut hook lover.
