Maybe it’s just the lighting, but the hemlock posted in this post:
Looks very similar to the blood red posted in this post:
Does that mean that the sawcut hemlock will come out looking very much like the blood red saw cut above?
Also, that chestnut Case is some of my favorite, so the similarities are promising, but I’m still voting for Copperhead.
My objectivity is certainly in question due to my obvious preference for red (in most cases) - however, I will try and assuage any concerns (no promises that I'll be effective).
The Blood Red 66 that I displayed above is a knife that I got in a trade for my 66 in Hemlock Green. I've handled both examples and can certainly attest to the fact that they are not at all the same. I have never seen Hemlock Green as being a red dye, it is most definitively brown (in my opinion) with some reddish undertones.
Yesterday, I made the comment that I thought Copperhead was more orangey-red than anything and though I still contend it is far more orange than I would like, I can also say that I was viewing the pictures on my phone at the beach. Hardly favorable viewing conditions - viewing the pics on my computer screen now, they look a bit different (and more pleasing). Viewing the examples you cited on my computer indoors, it is hard for me to confuse the two - one is most certainly brown and even has less red than other Hemlock examples where the blood red is most definitely red.
