I don’t think it would be “unfair” whatsoever to require a paid membership to buy a forum knife. And I think it should be a standing rule that if you’re caught flipping one, you’re NEVER allowed to buy another.

This will be my first forum knife, believe it or not. Hell, my feet are still stuck in the concrete from when they poured the foundation here and I’ve never got in one one yet. I intend to carry, use, and cherish this knife, and noob flippers have no damn business buying one IMO.

Actually, that is a rule regarding the forum knife and there are people on that list for doing so.

Glad to see you are in for one this year. Last year was my first time buying the forum knife as well. I love mine, and although I don't carry it as much as I should, every time I see it I am reminded of how that knife came about and the hard work put in by Mike to make it possible, especially when all indications pointed to it likely not happening without his efforts.

I'm not sure if we have any other folks on here from Russia.... I know we have several different countries represented, but I don't remember any other Russians. I don't know what the import policies are there... I know that in some countries the red tape, added taxes, etc can make it prohibitive. Have you ever shipped to/from the US in the past? If it's not too onerous, you might be able to work out shipment to you, perhaps from one of the porch members.

I know a few people, but not sure if they are here at the forum.

It's not a problem of delivery or import. I got many knives from US. And Cold Steel Ti-Lite 6 is legal here for example. So it's absolutely fine here.

I am worried about if Charlie, or whoever will be shipping them, is willing to send outside the US, and what are the payment methods. Those are my concerns.

I've seen before where one or more members volunteered to handle shipping to members in other countries. I don't have experience shipping international but if no one better volunteers I'll help with a couple.
Man, big thanks!

Now there's only the question of payment methods left. I hope it's not "PP only"...

I could envision someone creating a couple of different accounts and post enough to qualify for the forum knife. So, then buy 2 knives each under 2 different member’s profiles and then set up a third member profile, which is disposable, who then flips the knives. The third name is not connected in any way to the first 2 profiles and if it is banned then just create a new disposable profile.

That may work but it is pretty rotten to do that.

The last time GEC did the forum knife (2019), they shipped directly from Titusville to overseas buyers. There was a pretty nominal shipping fee ($10.00 extra or so). Purchasers were on the hook for import duties, VAT, and fees, of course. I hope they do it that way again as it worked pretty smoothly.

Well if no one had the idea before, they sure do now.
Our Mods are pretty good at sniffing that kind of thing out, however.
Also the BF participants love rules, and the only thing we love more than rules is finding the people who are breaking them.

I have difficulty believing that I am the only person who thought of creating multiple member accounts using various e-mail accounts. I hope the Moderators can sniff out those individuals but I can’t think of how to do that if someone was careful. I can easily believe that someone missed out on last year’s forum knife back in August of last year created several member accounts and posted to threads using all of the accounts for several months. I imagine it would be very difficult to identify those individuals.
I guess for this year the moderators could set a date back in April for a member to meet the requirements to purchase a forum knife. That would prevent someone reading this thread from creating a couple of fake accounts and quickly get enough posts to qualify.

I bet that’s exactly what they’d say, too… 🤔🤣

In fact, they did just that.

I've shipped and received quite a bit overseas and only had one snafu which thankfully had a happy ending. I do recall reading a thread on bladeforums a few years back saying that shipping to and from Russia was sketchy at best due to thieves along the way. Maybe that has changed. I visited Moscow 20 years ago and I was a bit shocked by how much graft permeated the society there. Bribes were standard common practice for virtually everything.

If I were to ship or recive shipment from there, it would have to be some sort of well monitored service like FedEx overnight but that might be cost prohibitive.

I hope you don't take any offense to any of that, but personally, I would never ship to Russia myself.

Yeah, the 90s were horrible, very hard times. Country was in big crisis. Now it's different. USPS first class will do (and is doing) well. In some areas there are thieves at post, but those are not Russia but a Caucasian subjects of Russian Federation. I live in big Russian city where it is uncommon. The only thing that might occur is some kind of postal worker's mistake, but that can happen anywhere. So it is better to ship as internationally trackable parcel.

No offense taken, but you say you won't ship to Russia like you're obliged to give a refund if something goes wrong, and you're actually not. When I order something, some sellers point out that they will not guarantee the delivery, therefore won't compensate me anything in case of loss.
