I didn’t say you had to agree with me, or anyone:
The majority of voters picked “5-“6. Did you notice?

Looks like team 8”+ isn’t so popular with the rest of the forum.

But I’m sure you all think they just don’t know anything about survival, right? After all.. you’re the “experts”.

What, you saw the pile-on and decided one more was needed? Glad you waited for the right time to jump in.
You against the world, right?

Nah. I like fixed blades and am curious on other people's thoughts on the topic. That and the internet is spotty where I'm at and was busy doing other things earlier.

For all the typing this dude does, he can't answer what his 4.5in blade knife can do that the 15oz tglb would not do in a survival situation.

But I have given ample examples of what the larger knife can do that the smaller knife would be grossly inefficient at.

Good answer. I don’t believe it, but good answer.

“No” what? You think you can’t do chops with a 4.5” knife? Have you even HELD a 4max or Spartan? And they aren’t even fixed.
You can chop with anything , I suppose .

But basic laws of physics and lots of human experimentation dictate that both mass and length matter for chopping efficiency .

This is why we have axes / hatchets , heavy machetes , and BAK choppers .

I agree that there is an energy price to pay for luging around big , heavy stuff when on foot , especially in rough terrain .

All these factors are a complex trade off and the Devil is in the details . ;)

What poll are YOU looking at? Greater than 8 inches is currently the second highest choice.

What the hell are you talking about haha. This is a personal preference poll. No one is right or wrong! Thats literally what my experience said. I can do a hell of a lot with a 4” blade. I can do a hell of a lot with a 10” blade. If I could have only one tool, I’d choose the slightly larger one.

Understand?

If you want to head back over and continue the disagreement, I’m game.. but the only person looking like a “complete dunce” is the guy telling someone that spent $200 of his hard-earned cash on a knife that showed up dull to either sharpen it or “get over it”.
Oh look, more trolling. I guess repetition doesn’t work as the thread is open and available for all to view. In said thread, readers will see me also stating that OP could reach out the the dealer/manufacturer and seek recompense. That was stated at least half a dozen times, yet here you are misstating it again.

Yeah I got that, but it doesn’t dismiss your condescending attitude with regard to the OP not taking it upon themself to sharpen a dull $200 knife.

I’m just a little curious why you don’t go argue with the bunch of other people that don’t agree with you? Or am I just the scapegoat for team 8”+ tonight?

3.

You don't know what I do for a living.
I don’t care what you do for a living, honestly. To me, you’re just someone trying to vent some steam at some stranger on an Internet forum. You make a lot of assumptions about people you don’t even know for someone that’s apparently a “survival expert”.
