Selling to new member

You're really not extending any trust though, you are asking them to trust that you aren't going to screw them over since they give up any protection from paypal when they use f&f.

This ^^

Also I can't stand buyers that are trying to pass on their fee. Ask for F&F or to pay your fee for you and I'm out.

On-topic; as long as it's a normal transaction (so seller pays fees and with paypal buyers protection) I see nothing to worry about when selling to any stranger. Just ship with tracking and what could go wrong?

While I certainly understand the concept of checking posting history on new members you are selling to, for insight into the person as well as wiliness to be a member of the community, I also think true newbees are better off reading more then posting. Many post to soon and ask ?'s that they could easily search out. Those coming from other knife forums are ready to go , but the guy new to the hobby has some learning to do before they are ready and comfortable being a contributor to the forum. New or old we all still like buying a nice knife.
While checking post history is helpful in some cases, I wouldn't hold it against them if they weren't numerous posters at 1st.
Not trying to discourage their posting, just that all aren't ready at 1st

Your points are well-taken, Peter, and I agree that many new members post before they are ready. While some segments of this community are unrelentingly harsh and unfair in their treatment of novice posters, there are many of the latter that deserve some vilification as they come in full of bluster, start dopey threads, or ask a lot of questions that are either unnecessary or self-answering. Your comments remind me of the old saw that goes, it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I certainly wouldn't hold it against anyone not having a long string of stirring commentary. I just think that history another piece of evidence to be considered when contemplating doing business with someone.
