"I feel certain that one of the many creative makers on this forum could make you a comparable (superior?) blade for much cheaper than $530"
I personally own several of the Randall Knives. They are a work of art to hold in the hand. Bradford Angier (a famous outdoors writer) many years ago that the Randall knife he had made by Bo Randall was the only knife he ever used that could butcher a moose without a resharpening. I had a chance to buy one of Jimmy Lile's $1000.00 numbered Rambo knives and I passed years ago. At that time, I could buy 5 of the Randall knives for the same money. The Rambo knife was a "Hollywood" knife, the Randall knife is the real deal.
I agree that there are many other fine makers who can make an equal knife for butchering out a moose these days BUT their knife will still not be a Randall knife. I own CRKs, Sogs, Spydercos, Randalls, and use a variety of other knives at different times for tasks. Buy the best knife you can afford and learn how to keep it very sharp, become a master in its use, and relish the fact that you will be one of the few in the world who can still do those tasks in this politically correct world.
