I already had 3 folders before I found this place. Now in the past week, I've already bought 4 more off various selling members (yikes).

Is there a support group for folding knife buyers like there is for AA???

I'm already seeing myself "standing up at a meeting for my introduction . . . "My name is expidia1 and Im here because I have a problem that I can't stop buying knives"

I was going to stop at 5 (I told my son), now Im up to seven. Sad part is I just told myself that I might as well stop at 10 now, because 10 is such a nice round number

You'll go through stages and come full circle and then make a left which takes you to the other side of where you need to be, no need to worry. Go back the way you came and take the right instead, you'll end up right where you should be :D

Of course if you don't make the turn when you're supposed to:

Haha, you know I never thought about how nice and round the number 50 is.

I bring a different knife to bed with me each night and practice opening the different actions on that model.
My Wife is ready to leave me not only because the clicking wakes her up she also thinks I'm crazy.
But now I'm thinking thats OK if she leaves because as soon as she is gone I can lay out "more knives" on her side of the bed

Set yourself a monthly budget or limit the number of knives you buy a month. Look at it as a way to enjoy the knives you have more, 90% of knives are production models, so in reality you're not gonna miss out. It's tough, but doable!

Pretty much everyone goes through a phase in the beginning where they want every knife that looks cool. We see a knife with a new mechanism or blade style and we want it.

After awhile we learn more about what we actually want in a knife and no longer feel the need to buy every cool knife we see. Unfortunately many times those knives can be 500$+ each.

Good start though buying off the used fourm. Great way to save money.

What is with all of these "help me I am addicted to spending money on things I don't need" posts recently?

If you can't control your spending habits, go see a psychologist. If seeing pictures on a web forum causes you to buy things impulsively, LOG OUT AND DON'T COME BACK.

It is truly an addiction. I have bought, sold, and traded my entire collection many times over. As some have said above it is definitely best to set a budget for the month and stick to it because as with any addiction it can certainly lead to financial hardship. Enjoy the hobby!

Okay, now I don't feel so bad! $8k in less than a month? YIKES!

I've sold over 80 of my knives thru the years, so now I'm down to "a hundred and something." But I don't have any really expensive knives, my most costly knife at the moment is a CRK Sebenza 25. Mostly Spydercos, Benchmade, ZT, Lionsteel, GEC, Kizer, Case, Kershaw...

Not quite a sickness, but an expensive hobby! I'm lucky that some of my friends have boats. I can honestly tell my wife "Billy's boat cost way more than all my knives put together!"

Over $8K in the last 3 wk needless to say I have OCD
What Lapedog says is absolutely correct lol !!!

Obviously your opinion on what knife is beautiful is entirely up to you. However I will say that I find the gold class benchmades and the foray as well to not be a good value. They tend to be way overpriced for what you get in terms of materials.

For $675 there are many customs and expensive midtechs you could get. Honestly 675 for a couple of cf scales with abit of mother of pearl and a damascus blade seems kind of like a ripoff to me. For that money you could get a damascus Sebenza or even a custom strider both of which will also hold their value way better.

Dont listen to those, who advise against you purchasing more knives - you can never be too skinny or have enough knives!

Wow, were you in my house this AM? thats “exactly” what I said to my wife... I said I dont own enough knives yet and you are not skinny enough!
