Seriously, I hate this blade forum . . .

Wow, were you in my house this AM? thats “exactly” what I said to my wife... I said I dont own enough knives yet and you are not skinny enough!
Wait, you told your wife "You are not skinny enough."?
Dude, your wife may choose to use one of your new knives to cut your tongue out. You never tell your spouse that they are not skinny enough. You're doomed. May God have mercy on your soul.

Relax and enjoy yourself. Nobody is keeping score. It's a hobby and a new found one for you.

Yup, that's a great way to contract that Hawaiian disease known as, lack-of-nookie. :(

I am sort of "value minded collector". None of my knives are >$200. I was mostly into Buck, Mora, stuff like that. Well I decided to upgrade my crappy Gerber Paraframe in late January. I found this place on the innernets, and now I've bought 5 folders so far this year. Benchmade, Kershaw, now Spyderco (ordered one this AM).

Not to mention that I've bought several hundred dollars worth of sharpening crap and accessories!!

It's a whole new world baby!! I think I'm gonna stop at 7. One for each day of the week.

Or maybe 30....one for each day of the month!!

Well, in 3 weeks I now have $1,278 into a wicked edge sharpening system. . . Youch.

Back in the day, pre-wife, pre kids, pre-exwife... (mid '80's)
I had a $600 a month habit at Bass Pro Shops buying fishing tackle. I didn't even need to pull out the credit card. Had the damned thing memorized.
I can now look back with pride and truthfully say, "Just thank God I'm not as bad as I used to be!"
With the new year, I am trying to limit spending to $200 or 1 knife a month.

Haven't done it.
But I am trying.

Not very long ago, I thought $200 for a folder to be a HUGE price tag. It is still a lot to me, but I'm now willing to entertain the notion of a $200 folder. I don't feel that way about fixed blades. The problem is that I seldom feel I need a fixed blade.

You must have needed a lot of tackle/fishing stuff.

Well duh!!! lol
Got my first bass boat back then so naturally, I had to fill it up! Started fishing tournaments, first club level, then team tourneys, and finally pro circuits, plus guiding and makin' videos. Very much a multi-level, multi enabler sort of addiction. Been left high and dry on shore for the last 9-10 years now, my boat just sittin in the garage needing a lot of cash and attention to get her back on the water. Praying the motor hasn't seized sitting that long. If I'm lucky $3-4K will get it running again. If I have to rebuild the motor, we are probably talking between $10 & 20K. :( Just need to get my taxes done and see what falls back into my pocket this year. Meanwhile, I sponge off a friend or two and fish out of their boat. Got a 10 day trip planned up to bass heaven at the CA Delta the last week in March!

So much this...

Lately.

Me: Hey honey, I can't remember, is our budget for limited run Mid-Tech's the same as our budget for custom Damascas flippers?
Her: Wait, what, just.....don't.....
Me: Oh, and is there a also a separate fund for shapton and chosera stones for the Edge Pro?
Me: Annndddd, are either of those numbers more or less than $690.....

You shouldn't feel too bad about this! Hell, now you'll be able to take advantage of all the federal programs, for folks with disabilities. Plus, now you'll be part of a protected class, and they won't be able to fire you, from your job! Plus, now you'll be entitled to certain housing - I think. Maybe somebody else, who's been thru the program, can give you the 411.

See, being an addict isn't such a bad thing, if you know how to play your cards! :D
