Seriously, when is the tacticool thing gonna play itself out?

Not mud, jello.

You're welcome but it's even more pitiful that you justify being hurtful with verbal gymnastics.

When you poke fun(denigrate) the preferences of others, you are being hurtful. I dunno how it is in your place but being hurtful is not considered decent in society. As you said, we can take it because we are not children but just the same, the attitude of being hurtful just because you disagree with the taste of someone in the same hobby isn't too decent.

You compare your poking fun at somebody else's taste with my objection to your hurtful attitude? Now that is a pathetic excuse at justifying your bad behavior.

In today's life, we all could use more decency, not less.

You can disagree politely with someone's taste but to ridicule or to shame? Do you regularly call somebody else's wife ugly just to poke fun? That kind of behavior is more comparable to what you are proposing is all right OTOH, both acts are not at all comparable to objecting to rude manners.

Read it again. While my lamenting may be deemed objectionable behavior by some, it was not for his taste. It was for his condemnation of the opinion of his peer. If your going to insult my character, at least be accurate. I NEVER issued a excuse, or attempted to justify my behavior. I am pointing out the common cause and effect we all share.

The tactical thing will play itself out when people no longer use their imaginations to fantasize. Of the knives I own, I probably need a Swiss Army Knife, a machete and a Mora belt knife. I really don't need a good Buck knife able to skin a deer if I am stranded in northern Canada and I am unlikely to fight off attackers, but my agination wants me to be prepared.:D

A lot of people have a COLLECTION of knives that are for show. Wouldn't a collection of a bunch of knives that look exactly the same be rather boring? Not sure what the outrage is all about.....you don't like it, don't buy it.

I doubt the tacticool knife rage will ever completely die.

Its been around since I was a kid in the 80's with the Rambo knives.

Maybe even been around since the 780s (BC), what with all the Romans loving their swords...

I'm sure every "manly man" had to have one. Anything more "tactical" than a double edged, wasp waisted enemy eviscerator?

Can I just say one thing about the movie Road House?

If I were Patrick Swayze, I might invest in a small pistol.... I mean, the guy gets attacked by knife-wielding white trash pretty much once a day.
It got so bad, he had to start dating a doctor.

The shady bartender attacks him less than 10 seconds after he just get re-hired at his job.
"Thanks for giving me my job back, now hold on while I try to murder this security guard."

I want to know when the bushcraft thing is going to play itself out. It's more sickening that tacticool.

"Bushcraft" was around before the Internet was. More likely than not "bushcraft" will still be around long after the Internet is gone.

Tactical has been around longer than the current dating system man uses. In fact tactical has nothing to do with a knife or any piece of equipment. Tactics are something you do. Tactical is what you are when you use tactics. If you are in the guard position on your back and someone is choking you and you retrieve knife xyz from your pocket and insert it into the back of their leg and run it up to their buttock, you just used a tactic. Your knife is now a tactical knife, even if it's a SAK.

Don't worry or get wound up over how a knife is marketed. Every single blade is tactical, bushcraft, survival and even collectible. Some can even be all of them. It's all in how you use it.

My hunting and fishing knives are also my bushcraft, survival and tactical knives. That means I use my tactical knife for skinning deer and use my survival knife for bushcraft. I've even used a Mora to filet fish. I even used my tactical folder to sharpen a pencil today.

When will the madness end! ;)
