Service takes a long TIME!!!

I recieved my arrival email on 7/30. I sent an email today inquiring, and Angela said I should be getting a call tomorrow. But Yes the latter part of 6 weeks for sure. They must be swamped!! No worries though

I wonder if the mon-third week has anything to do with it? Unless they work four 10s or four 12s.

My large sebenza took 7 weeks. I think it is a reasonable time frame. From this thread, I can see that they get quite a few sent back.

From now forth, I will only send in if I screw up the blade. Else I can live with the cosmetic part.
Pointless to be fussy with aesthetics if you are going to carry and use it.

I sent mine in on 10/22, they got it today (so USPS says). I asked them to double-lug it, refinish the handles and re-finish and re-sharpen the blade. I also asked if they could re-profile the blade it had lost its "belly" in my sharpening, I also told them to call me if they couldn't maybe I would get a new blade... what do you guys think based on the pics?

Well the blade was too far gone so they are sharpening my old one and fitting me a new one as well as cleaning and tuning everything else up. It will be a long 4-6 weeks :)

That's awesome! I've been holding off; I have 7 or 8 to go for spa & double lugs, but a 2 month wait doesn't sound very appealing!

7 or 8? That's awesome. I wish I had so many that I wasn't sure how many! A new life goal for me

Sorry to bring this thread back to the top guys (and girls), but I just sent in a knife for SPA treatment and replacement screws and got the receipt e-mail with a turn-around time of 6-8 weeks! Has anyone else noticed their wait times are still getting longer.

Am I out of line to think this is too long?

It's getting to the point I'm considering going with a fellow forum member in the "Services offered" section of the Custom Shop whom can do the work and get it back to me in a week.

Understand they are making knives as well as servicing other knives, and possibly designing new 25's (small, inlay, etc)

Do what you want with your knife.. But don't forget to also be considerate of the shop as well.

I'd be inclined to go with factory spa, with a few extra weeks.

After all, that's why you have more than one, right?

IMO they should just scrap the "spa sevice" altogether. If you want your knife to be made pretty and new looking again you go to the back of the line. That line could easily be weeks long and nonessential work is just that, nonessential. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I would much rather CRK spent their time working on and designing new knives than jazzing up already sold knives that, frankly put, don't need it.

The warrantee creates the need for offering a SPA service. I totally understand why they have the warrantee stipulations as they do, but that creates a need.

I don't think Mr. Reeves and anyone on his design team is being distracted by my knife getting serviced.

But like I said, perhaps I'm out of line. It's certainly not going to make me sell off any of my CRK knives.

Work performed under warranty has zero to with a "spa treatment". They are not the same thing and have no relation to eachother. One is to keep a knife in service by replacing broken or faulty parts, the other is nothing more than nonessential beautification. :)

Killing the Spa service because some are impatient is not a smart idea. There are plenty of is who are willing to wait for the service to be done.

They've had one of mine for right at 12 weeks. No rush. The spa service is a strong selling point IMO. I don't mind going to the back of the line.

From the day the knife left my house to the day it was back home took exactly 3 weeks and 4 days.
It was sent in for the "Spa Treatment".

Maybe I just got lucky...;)

I'm sure warranty work will take longer.

Thanks Haze, NM08SRT8, mjolnir74, and amike5757575 for your input. I think I just need to have a little more patience.

I sent mine to CRK's in mid Nov. Heather said about 1 month. It came back exactly 1 month. I have another going in soon. I would rather wait and have CRK's do the work then send it in anywhere else. I will expect at least 6 weeks and after 1 week I will be wondering when it will come home. :-)
