Severed a tendon in my hand last night.

So, I may be spending some time on here with you guys over the next few weeks.

I was touching up a spot on the spine of a finished chef's knife last night. I fumbled the blade at the buffer and one millisecond later I was looking at the internal workings of my left hand. I partially severed the extensor tendon in my index, and completely severed the extensor in my middle finger. I never even felt the blade hit & it took a minute to figure out why I couldn't make my finger move, didn't even bleed for the first couple minutes.

So I'm not gonna be grinding for a bit while I try to get in to see a surgeon and get all the disability stuff together for work.

The plus side is I get to hang out on here!:D

BTW, anyone want an 8" chef's knife? Used only once! Proven to cut tendons with little to no effort!

Have a good one, I'll be hanging around,

Nathan

Who knows, since my left is gone, maybe I'll knock out some chisel grinds. I'll figure out some way to attach a push-stick to the splint.

That makes me wince just thinking about that happening.

Hope you make a FULL recovery with all feeling and function.

Peter

sorry to hear that. well now you'll have a battle scar to show everyone.

That knife is likely to bite again.

Love and respect.

I have cut two of mine. You shoud have surgery as quick as you can.every hour you wait will cause you greif.when cut the tendon's start to shrink, and this makes getting full use of your hand much harder. I waited five days way to long. My finger only works 50% know.

Sorry to hear about your accident.:(
The bloody buffer (no pun intended) can be lethal.....
Get well soon........

Steven

Oh, man! That sounds painful. Of course, you will have to provide pics. ;)

Get well soon and can we see a pic of the culprit?

More proof that a clumsy oaf like me should never even get NEAR a buffer. I would, in all likelihood, lose a major appendage.

Hope you heal up quick. Please, no pics!!!

Thank God you are in Canada: my severed thumb tendon cost me 10k (WITH insurance @ $560/month) The important part is how hard you work on physical therapy.

10K with insurance:eek:

So many good reasons in this thread why someone as clumsy as me will not use a buffer. Hope you heal quick and well. Pics please...

chicks dig scars.
heal up soon!
