SEXIEST Bk5 on the PLANET contest

Looks very nice. Only changes I would make would be to use mosaic pins, and it looks like there are some scratches on the handle in the second pic that need sanding out. I'd also take that to a finer grit, personally, because I love the look of glossy wood, but to each his own. You do a great patina job, and the Skystorm leather is lovely. I might also have gone with more of an orange-brown wood to match the sheath, or a maple burl that I could die to match. But you're right, that's certainly the most gorgeous BK5 I've seen to date.

I read the title of the thread and automatically knew it was by Clich, Very nice knife man. That dark wood and that patina combo are stellar! Very nice job.

I noticed the scratches after applying the tung oil. I said screw it that i didnt mind but the more i think about em the more i dont want them there. I think ill go back and resand. As for the pins i like corby bolts better than just pins, they hold up to hard use better with a little loctite.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Clich, Who Knew?

I thought you would win, But I had no idea you rigged the election. Good on ya for that. The "Five" need some exposure.

Got some stripper this weekend. Thinking grapefruit patina.

Yep, for use, I just like to use some standard screws, cause you can open them with a flat piece of metal or anything. People are always telling me to use Torx or Allen bolts, but those are a pain to get off. Haven't tried Corby's, but they look a lot like pins, so that's nice. I've been thinking about making my own by soldering some mosaic pins onto the end of my standard screws and nuts.

But that's use, not sexiness... Just sayin.

I was just outside BBQ ing and was thinking I need a 5 and 15 for BBQ ing. They could be beautiful because they wouldn't be hard use knives like all the other beckers I have. I come inside and see this, it's a sign, I just know it's supposed to happen now! Thank you Clich.

Great looking etch on this one.Congrats Clich, she really is a beauty! Been lurking around here for a bit, waiting for my first Becker to come on from a trade and I gotta say, your mods are always great. My 2 came in already stripped and in pretty poor shape (rusty and dull) but she's got me hooked and now I want to mod the hell out of it(doesn't everybody though it seems?) So where can I find a link to the process you use for this etch? I've done the forced patina with mustard thing before on an old Ontario SP1 and it turned out pretty well, but nothing like this.I can't figure out if I want a 5 or a 9 next,so probably going to order or trade for both a.s.a.p. (yours has me leaning towards the 5 though) BTW caught your BK2 sharpening video on utube while watching the gathering vids with Fisk, nice work.Keep up the great mods!

LOL, I think this was fixed from the start ! LOL :D On the other hand, beauty is in the eye of the beholder/beerholder, & i like mine just the way it came. I like the grivory handles & the black blades of all the Beckers, but thats just me.

Nice knives fellas. :D

Hey Clich, just a question I have for you,
Why do you like the BK5 so much? I have never used one before, and I know it's not a bad knife, but with it's design and shape it doesn't seem to be the "perfect" camp knife. You are always saying it does everything very well, and I just can't see how it does that.
