SF Get Together Directions & Details

Placerville? Err...no. WAY too far for the South Bay crowd.

As to the SF Folder limit...Dano, you have NO idea how many serious fixed blades showed up open-carry on hip. Me, for starters.

You know what'd be good? Walnut Creek, or maybe a bot further south at Dublin or Pleasanton. Real central to the whole Bay Area, not too nasty for the "boonies long range people" coming in from inland. We'd have to make it a weekend to avoid an absolute disaster for the South Bay crowd on 680 northbound in the evening, but other than that...it's probably be the most "fair" to all.

Wait a minute guys, I’m the one that drove about 230 miles to attend. If the next meeting is a few miles here or there, what’s the difference?

Lots of interesting blades but the main event was the people. The enthusiastic folks that
made the effort to attend, were the event. Count me in on the next gathering. I hope to
ride to the next meeting on a proper scooter rather than suffering in a cage.

Steve’s Black Cloud knives were fun to play with. The same goes for Joe’s “tactical
kitchen knife”. Being a user, not a collector, some of the other fancy stuff I saw was totally awesome. Those of you that were there, know what I am talking about. I just can’t remember all the details. A special thanks to Joe for organizing the whole thing. Let’s do it again!

Regards,

Colin

I just wanted to clear the air regarding my earlier post directed to Tom Mayo. Tom has sent me a very nice message explaining the true bent of his post, and the confusion that led to it. I have responded in kind, but since I went on a public rant defending myself over trivial matters, I felt that a public retraction is in order.

I hold no ill will towards Tom, and in fact think that his knife selection is first rate. I could find no fault with his product, I just said that he had lost a potential customer. I am glad to say that is no longer the case, and will be keeping an eye on his future work. Take the opportunity to visit his site and see for yourself http://www.mayoknives.com/

I will, in the future, attempt to keep my posts as civil and on topic as possible. To that end, The Front Room would be a fine place to meet. Not close to the freeway, but ever since Loma Prieta, what in the City is? Dano, if you can make it to Izzy's anytime soon, let me know and we can meet. And Tom, if you can make it in from HI, dinner is on me!

As for other locations that are convenient, that is a tough one. If we do it on a Monday night near the civic center, I might be able to arrange for free parking. The Opera has two parking lots on Folsom between Franklin and Gough, and once the shows are up and running it will be empty every Monday night.

If this helps let me know. I definitely don't want to miss the next one.
