Not so unique and as you continue your education on knifes you will find the purpose... CRKT has had the two clip options on their 1* M16's for years - carry left or right pocket and still have the Emerson wave like opening left or right carry. So some things has a real purpose, like the dual clip has a real purpose even if you don't know the purpose...

What is even cheaper and less aesthetic is the cable tie on a Spyderco hole for quick opening out of the pocket...

Siyafunda - search to understand and you will gain knowledge :-)

two clip options, not two clips. As you may notice, the 561 has 4 clip position options..... tip up down, left right

This was the question. If the OP was looking only for compliments, it might have helped to state that from the beginning.

You know, something like "Please keep your negative comments to yourself", or something similar.

The post didn't warrant such a rude feedback. Does every comment need a fine print section? Or can some civility be expected without being 'spoiled'?

I would venture to say it's possible to be honest without being rude. But then again i'm on the internet where I can get away with saying anything I want because my screen has a hard time punching me in the face.

Sure, civility can be expected (not sure what you mean by "spoiled"), but it's interesting that you directed your attention to me instead of to the one who was allegedly being "rude".

R.B. Fuller once said that if they'd tasked an industrial designer to design a ship what they'd end up with is a pile of garbage floating down the Hudson. I know all about Paul Klee et al and the origins of industrial design. It's a grandiose tragedy.

Or to put it another way, when the knife is in carry the only thing you see is the clip and a small bit of the knife so aesthetic considerations are of next to no importance compared to ergonomics. And when the knife is in use the clips are covered by the hand, so again it's irrelevant. The primary purpose of aesthetic design is to sell the knife in pictures, or more accurately to give you an image of what someone else wants so that you'll want it too. That is, on a simple but meaningful level it's to generate envy or mimetic desire. That's what marketing and advertising is all about. And since I have absolutely no interest in marketing this little treasure my only possible concern is the temporary one of pleasing you. And since in your case expressing your opinion trumps "aesthetics" you must be having fun. Mission accomplished!

Update: By "having fun" I mean the way athlete's foot is fun.

The comment did seem rude, considering it's the internet and you can't ever tell how a line is delivered. I just think the new rules Kai has put in place have made us all a little more weary of how we say things around here.

If you look hard enough you'll always find the ersatz silver lining.

Actually I posted the picture to get some feedback on just how bad it looked, but I didn't really get that. I mean I already knew it was ugly and cheap, so the response was rude in the sense that it didn't provide any new information. :)

Stick, no "points" for observing that industrial design is a faux profession that adds approximately zero value to civilization as a whole. Somehow I knew you'd think that. Why don't you have your next house designed by an industrial designer? Something incredibly functional like the Bauhaus?

No points for observing that a pocket clip is, well... a pocket clip? Really? That statement makes no sense to you? Are you sure you want to admit that in public?

And no points for the observation that internet scandal is like athlete's foot? Gee, I thought that was pretty perceptive. You must not have much experience with fungal infections because you sure seem to know what scandal is.

Comment did seem rude, but it seems the back-lash has also gotten a little overblown.
Clips look fine to me, compared to the OEM or the Hinderer clips, but YMMV.
Clips on both sides of the knife is not for me, but I don't know the logic behind it. Also seems it increases the thickness and could be downright uncomfortable with some knives that I own.
For you, the OP, well done, IMO.

I use two clips on my Karambits, but you can get really nice ones with that standard three-hole design. The Ti ones are only about $5. Lots of people use two clips on Karambits so they can decide last minute which pocket to carry it in (which means you train with both sides). The 561 is so thin that two clips makes it more rather than less comfortable, even if you have small hands like mine. But ZT has a nice design on the 777 (or is it the 888?) with a clip that just flips to the other side. That would be pretty cool.

Update: Actually I'm just sitting here playing with the #600 and it fills the hand about the same as the #561 with two pocket clips. The clip on the #600 is sure pretty, but not so ergo.

You should fire whoever writes your jokes. :D

Well, in my observation, the 0600 is interesting because for a knife design that has pretty much no straight lines, the clip itself is very straight. Nevertheless, I totally love the clip, as it doesn't flare out and has just the right amount of tension.
