Share your thoughts on proxy buying please.

I agree it does feel wrong, but I'd rather the proxies be open and visible rather than gouging and profiteering. I also want to avoid shipping knives around unnecessarily <---- that's not just wasteful of time and money, it also increases risk of damaged or lost work.

The real answer is sales that last long enough for ordinary people to get in, and I'm the only one who can control that. And I'm doing the best I can.

Every year our output improves. Eventually we're going to hit saturation and things will slow down a little and we'll all look back at these proxies and laugh that they were even necessary.

A- Thank you for your expressing and clarifying your opinion. I utterly respect your final say on this matter and will refrain from further expressing my own opinion specially since I seem to irk a certain poster on here who disagrees with me <shrug>.

B- Now, that is whimsical ;)

because CPKs are so reasonably priced from the maker, it bothers me not at all to see them on the secondary market at a slightly inflated price
from what I understand, this is generally a good thing, especially considering that even at a slightly inflated price they are still excellent value
if the secondary market pricing soars, that will not be CPK's fault, given what the Boss just told us

Concur on all accounts Lorien. I have not been around knives as long as some of my peers on here but from my limited experiences specially since I had developed a penchant for "finely" made knives ("semi-custom" is the extent of my interest and budget) I have quickly come to discover that Nathan and Jo offer outstandingly high quality all USA made products at very reasonable prices. When I had bought my first ever CPK (an LC) I had some trepidation about it's over all price (had chosen the most expensive option at the time) but those fears quickly disappeared once I had the product in my hands (and now you have the those original handles on yours :D )

So... now that I've missed out on the last few sales... how does one get a proxy buyer??? And Do I leave cash on the night stand?

Dear Craig's list please help me find someone with fast fingers so I can buy an edc. Lonely in Cleveland.

This made me spew coffee through my nose. Well done, sir.

Often one gets a proxy buyer by hanging out on the forum, getting to know people and someone will proxy for you.

Or you already happen to know someone who is fast!

I have proxied for a close friend that wasn't available during the sale. Nathan has given his blessing and I don't see any need for further discussion...

**snip snip** ...I don't see any need for further discussion...

I think J_mcrane was simply asking how he gets a proxy rather than expressing his/her thoughts on whether it is a good practice or not.

I did not quote J_mcrane nor was my post directed towards him in any way. Simply a general answer to the thread. Sorry for any confusion.

My previous sentence "I don't see any need for further discussion" could have been worded better and I realize that. I suppose what I'm trying say is:
At the end of the day does it really matter what any of us think on the subject?
If Nathan changes his thought process on proxy buying things will change.... However I'm staying positive that the only thing to change is the quantity of CPK's produced in the future!

I have wanted a light chopper for a while now but don't bother because with in seconds they are gone. Instead of selling every Friday, sell knives once a month in larger batches, this would give more people a chance to own one of these knives.

Yeah, the last LC sale would have been easy for someone to get one. No keyboard-fu necessary.

We're running 60 more LC now. I expect it will be simple enough for someone to get one if they want one, no problem.

Well not if you start broadcasting that now!!!

I keep telling myself I really have no need for one of these. Suburban soccer dad that I am. Must. Resist.

There's some good news :-) been wanting a LC myself. Hopefully score one and if sale goes past a minute or two a second one :-) :-)

Thank you for the information on the LC. I'll definitely check back often to find out when they are up for sale.

That is awesome. I hope you can do a big drop like that for the FK before you retire her.

Trust me you want one of these. This is a must have in your collection. Even if you only use it to chop kindling in the backyard for the fire pit to roast marshmallows. You wont regret having it.

Cheers

I was hoping to get in on a LC on 12/2. However, I wil be out of state for family medical reasons. I would be grateful if someone would agree to proxy for me. I will also try if able.
