Here's my version of the Missing Man formation. I was getting ready to take a few pics this evening, but have sold a few off. Gone, but not forgotten......

Does anyone out there own just ONE? And I mean only one for say longer than 6 months. I started with one and it became 4 very quickly. I'm pretty sure I can't afford this.....

You blaspheme in my thread!!!

:p :p :p :p :p

Over the weekend I traveled to Houston (now you folks see why I was so far behind on my PM's!) and had a chance to get this professionally done pic of my carry knife. If Lisantica could see it now!! :D :D

Beautiful. I so love the UG's

Thank you, so do I.

Seems fitting that you posted as I was cropping this pic. On the subject of missing friends, my beautiful Hawk has flown. I miss that beauty already!

It's funny cause I never even noticed the "hawk" until you pointed it out when we first spoke about it weeks ago. I just really liked the design. Some just speak to ya. I am glad that one I let go made it to your door. Even better that it was one of the original UG's CRK had ever done.

And that one really does to me, too! If you ever set it free, I want first refusal.

You mean this UG, correct? I'd forgotten that this was once yours too. It seems to have made the rounds through the usual suspects here. In fact, it has a place in the 'Sluttiest Sebenza' thread. :D :D :D

Not this one, though I had a chance to buy it at one time and changed my mind last minute when it was offered to me. It was another small UG. Had a circle on it and a couple other arches. I believe you said you had it in the sandbox.

This one:

I bought this one from someone on eBay, then he stated he had more. The more ended up being the gold coin, mosaic Damascus, oriental, mother of pearl, large regular flat grind and 2 kathathu.

Definitely one of the ones I regret letting go.....but am so glad it made its way to you.

Ah, that's right! Come back to this thread once I start going through the UG's, you'll be surprised how good Lisa made it look when it visited the mothership. Once it was confirmed to be a Scott Cook I didn't let her re-anodize, but she cleaned it up and brought some of the color back out. he was also able to lighten the scratches to where they aren't apparent, and I got a birthcard with the Scott Cook provenance. Needless to say, this one is NOT in the group of 20+ that's going on the block!

Speaking of gold coins, did you visit my Think Tuice thread? ;)

It sure did get a bit of use over there, but nothing harsh. That was saved for my Hinderers. This one came to me already looking a bit dogeared, so I wasn't afraid to toss it in my pocket. It's retired now, though!

My criteria for choosing my 2 carry knives were;

Graphics that I like.
No real collector's value to destroy.I even retired one from carry once I discovered it has a bit of historic significance as a UG.

Being a user when I bought it helps.

Right now I have 2 that I choose from, a small and a large.

I know I'd posted this group before, but a couple cool additions warranted a redo. I think you'll agree........ ;)

So here we have the entire collection, and even dozen.

Mnandis3-.jpg

Going from left to right; Camel Thorne, Jigged Rosewood, Left and right handed Walnut, Left and right handed Honduran Rosewood, 2 Mesquite Burls, Numbered Redwood Burl #2 of 25, Numbered Ziricote #61 of 200, Bocote with blue and maroon Gary House Zebra damascus, 2-tone Cocobolo with Raindrop damascus.

The first 6...

The Camel Thorne...

The Lefty-Righty Honduran pair...

Both Mesquite Burls. Note the variation in both grain and color of these. Another BF'er (Falco57) recently posted another Mesquite, that one has very straight grain, also very pretty. A lot of variation from one kind of wood..

The numbered pair. The Redwood Burl #2 of 25 was featured here earlier, but the Ziricote #61 of 200 is new to me. The Ziricote is from the initial run of Mnandis, and has BG-42 bladesteel. The smaller run of of 25 Redwoods was an exclusive for KnifeArt and was run simultaneously. The birthdates on these are only 5 days apart, September 5, 2001 for the Ziricote and September 13, 2001 for the Redwood. The world sure change a lot in the short time between the birth of these knives. I've found myself wondering if my Redwood would have been born on Sept 11 if not for the events of that day. Somehow I doubt much got done at CRK that day and possible the next.

A note on the main run of 2000. The dates on the later ones goes well into 2002, after CRK had switched to SV30 on their other knives. Yet even the very last ones in this run were apparently made with BG-42.

Another look at the numbered Ziricote...

And now my damascus blade Mnandis. It's a Bocote with Gary House blue and maroon colored Zebra damascus! :) A VERY pretty blade on that one!

Hope you all enjoy these pics as much as I do! :) :) :) :)
