Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

WOW Coop - these latest additions are just incredible. Both the knives and the quality and diversity of engraving are just phenominal!

As I was scrolling down in awe....that Kious-Hochstrat just jumped off the screen and blew me away! Then the followups by Curt Erickson and Julie Warenski Erickson and Tim George! Simply exquisite.

Pedersoli does about the best grotesque on the planet, and for those that like what they see here, his book by Blue Book publications is exceptional.

THANK YOU very much for posting them.

Peter

I posted the engraved pieces above. The following knives have uber-appeal without additional artist's work.

Always wishing to hear more, but the view count continues to spiral upwards. I will take that as a positive note. :D

I have been working for hours and days with a problem I found on my brand new Dell PC (Windows7 and Internet Explorer 8.0). it's our 'kitchen table' computer my wife Susan uses for her email and the family uses for anything else.

I could not view my own Gallery with the new PC.

It took me loads of time and reinstalls of Adobe Flash ver. 10.0 (which was noted on the webpage as 'Not recognized - please install') and retrials. Nothing worked outside of installing a new browser (Google Chrome worked just fine).

But, that didn't solve the problem: How many others would not see my Gallery? I needed to address this...

The Gallery developer and others on a web forum were helping me, but it was confusing to them, as they all saw the Gallery on their end.

It ends up being a simple fix. So simple, but so evasive. (thank you Microsoft....) There is a little button/icon on the address bar which toggles 'Compatiblity Mode'. This allows the browser to revert to an earlier version for websites that may display improperly. Huh? But the problem is that the icon needs to be clicked on the Home Page, NOT the Gallery page. Iyiyiyiyiiiii.... You can't imagine how long this took to figure out, but it was only three clicks away. :thumbdn:

Anyway, the point of all this is that I am still improving my website. I have updated my scrolling Home page photo collage, and I will be upgrading the Gallery software so one can purchase prints and file, and search out images based upon the maker's name. That said, I may probably revert to a slight watermark for the display. Not sure yet.

This thread has been VERY beneficial (I hope?) to members and for myself to show client's work. :)

This week has been dedicated to improvements. :D

A dedicated Photography Forum on Bladeforums? This may very well happen.

Read what has been discussed in the Service and Support forum lately.

I've been flagged. ;)

Coop

Sounds like it could be a good idea.

I do like the kind of 'one stop shop' the Customs & Handmades forum provides here in providing great discussion and great knife photos in one place. I hope it doesn't cause segmentation in having to go to multiple places to find knife photos. And I hope this threads says.

It seems to work on the CKCA forum but then we are a small forum. I like how ours has interesting non-knife photos and tips, techniques and equipment information.

^^ ??

There will ALWAYS be great photos posted in this forum.

The new forum is primarily a place to discuss relevant techniques, visions, and equipment specific to photography, just like on the CKCA, Knife Network, the USN, etc. so we can display them elsewhere.... :)

Thanks.

, will be looking forward to it.

I've posted these Hill Pearce pieces in a standalone thread for more discussion. Here they are for posterity and for my catalog. :D

Kevin Evans is a new maker from Paris, MO. He tells me these are only his 8th and 9th knives. That's his damascus he's forged and that is silicon bronze for the guards and pommel's.

I'd say he has a VERY promising career ahead.

Great stuff Coop !! Your newest layout on the Puddo is my favorite by far. I thought you nailed it on the first one I saw a while back but this one reaches all aspects of the piece.:thumbup:

Incredible knives and photography.
Well done Coop.

Greg

I had to go back to understand your mention. I thought I might have photographed the same piece twice, but no. Let's look:

His work is just incredible. They sure do have a signature 'look', that extends to them, but these are definitely two separate knives.

Thanks again.

Coop

Kevin has been nice enough to send me photos of his knives for the last year and I have posted some on the CKCA forum in the past.
I really enjoy seeing newer maker's knives especially when you can notice steady improvements with each one, which has been the case with Kevin.

As always Coop, thanks for posting your beautiful photos.

but these are definitely two separate knives.

And so they are. Now that I can look at both layouts at once, they are both equally as nice. I do seem to favor the latest one tho. Jeepers Coop, you're getting the hang of this picture takin' stuff !!

Hi friends,

You may have noticed a title change to the thread - 2010. I was very fortunate to have nifrand and Darby's(our Custom & Handmade Forum mods) approval for this Gallery, starting this time last year.

It has now grown to be the largest thread in views of any in this forum. We like to look at finery!

Darby was kind enough to allow me to continue with this thread, and we will add on as time goes.

As I have always done, the first page is a table of contents for the remaining thread. I will do 2010 on the second post (which I reserved for this reason. :))

I have some important news to share later this week.

Thanks for viewing!!

Coop

Always a treat to come on here, Coop. The 'Table of Contents' helps make it even more fun.

Thanks to you and The Mods for this!

- Joe
