Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

A pleasure viewing your images of knives and swords, the images you sent me some time back of John Lundemo's katana line he made were amazing. I just went through this thread start to finish, always the best! :)

Some you've seen, some you haven't. All great knives!

I have a bunch of REALLY cool dealer shots to show. Soon.

Looking over my shots, there was a knife and maker I promised to post, but I simply lost track. Fortunately, this knife and photo have made their way into Blade's publication under 'Hot Handmade's'. We get to see it here again. :)

Congrats, Jim!

What Jon said! I feel all light headed and kind of nauseous looking at it. Like being in love:)

Thanks for the very good work Coop! You nailed it.

Jon, Lorien, I'm doin something a little different with the damascus, you will see more lile it. Thanks for the good words!

Engravers have always used the female form as femme fatale. Here we go with three visions, all using different flavors of gold as inlays, A dagger is so ready to pierce the heart.

Each suggestive of a different theme. Oddly, (inescapably?) these all came in within a two week period.

Hi friends,

We have been working diligently in the past few weeks upgrading our website. It's taken me many hours. Doing so, we have raised the bar once again on service back to our clients and the community.

I have included an additional 3500 images that have been previously only seen on dealer websites, if at all. Plus I have included all the studio work prior to 2007. It was a shame to limit these incredible knives to our private library.

The SharpByCoop.com Gallery now has all our dealer clients images viewable in alphabetical order by index. There's more....

The most viable new option is this feature:
ALL the images are searchable to create a ‘virtual gallery’ of a specific maker’s work.

Type one name into the search window, enter, and in seconds every image we have taken over the years is there to view in thumbs and will expand to admire. What a treat!

Consistently updated opening Gallery of ‘Featured Knives’ which are my latest studio clients and some faves from my dealers. More exposure.

Other benefits:
  • Full Screen ability to expand away the menu bars on browsers
  • Slideshow access with user-programmable delay
  • Guestbook comments available - Albumwide
  • Future ability to ‘tag’ images with keywords, such as engraver or style of knife. More selection.
  • You may link to a page, or send an email of that page to a friend.
  • Search results are in date order – Newest to oldest.
  • All other static Galleries are in alphabetical order

Also new is the Shopping Cart access and convenience for those who may be interested in the purchase of the previously unavailable website dealer’s work, or ANY of the work that’s been done.
Prints large and small, digital files, non-watermarked dealer shots, all available through the Shopping cart.
Payments through Paypal, or a simple cart ‘wish list’ invoice emailed directly to us, so we can work out the alternative payment details later on our own.

We’ve done this for a number of reasons:
  1. To provide added value to my existing clients—website and studio.
  2. To allow unseen work to be viewed and potentially acquired
  3. As a service to the knife-loving community
  4. As a service to make OUR work easier to help guide clients, editors, and collectors.

Let us know if you find this valuable. Thanks! :)

Coop thanks for sharing your great photos with us and the fantastic art that these people are doing .. I just finished a Kious folder for one of my customers and said he should send it to you for photos .. Ron p

Coop,

This is going to be a great resource for anyone who loves custom knives.

It must have been alot of work to be able to accomplish this.

Thanks for the effort.

A few things I find great about the site. I love that you can press download to save images. I keep files of knife pictures that I like so this helps alot. Also I need some prints and I bet the cart will be a much more effective and organized way for this to happen.

Thanks, Ron, Jim, and Don. I appreciate your comments!

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your thoughts. I struggled with the download feature and how I would handle this. There is a caveat: The only images that can be downloaded are those makers whose work I did either in the studio or at a show. These makers have all 'paid their dues' and deserve to have their work exposed and saved. That's the way it has always been on my site. (This is only the websized version. Beyond that we need to talk through the Shopping Cart :))

I have restricted albums with the 3500 images that were contracted by dealers to sell their work, as static. No downloads available. For these the makers (and collectors for this matter) will need to purchase these non-watermarked images through me.

Right clicking won't work. But... you can easily snatch the link for the image and SBC page to share (use the link icon on the page), or even send it through an email. Either way, unless you have a screen capture program, the image is restricted.

If the image is on the net, it's pretty much out in the world for use. I would hope there is a large enough inconvenience to use screen capturing programs that it will restrict the offenders.

My endgame is to allow makers to be able to view, and possibly select work I have done for their portfolio. Many may not even be aware of these images. It's also a great resource, let's acknowledge this.

Thanks for allowing me to clarify.

With this added feature Coop has provided an extremely important service to not only his clients but to the custom knifemaking community as a whole. An amazing collection of the art and craft of knifemaking. Thanks Coop.:thumbup:

Lastly, I had a friend come by who works in the optics industry, making lenses and stuff for scientific measuring tools. He is one of those guys who is talented at anything he does. He had a few synthetic gemstones he'd cut and had mounted. Would I be willing to give them a try shooting them?

"Well, if they are shiny, I'm going to give it my best"

Then he stops in with these masterpieces. I about keeled over in praise for his work.

It took some doing, but we were both pleased with the shots. That large crystal, was so absorbingly reflective that I had to wear a black cloth to cover my hand from appearing in the facets.

I know you will enjoy these.

Coop, you must have shot that Cronk more than once or twice in the last couple years. It's a beauty. It's been making the rounds the last couple years. Very pricey, but it was, as I recall, the last knife he made. Elegant in it's simplicity, brought out beautifully by this last image of it.
