Shawnee National Forest Anniversary Hike (Extremely Photo Heavy)

Looks like a great time! Great pictures as always. You need to stop showing that Kelty, I have way too many packs and I don't need to be looking at anymore... though I do like it! LOL.

How long have you and your wife been married?

Jeremy
Thanks man. That Kelty pack is awesome, blame it on Murph. The poor woman has put up with me for 6 years.

happy anniversary, warrior!

awesome pics! i like those icicles...i'd often hike in areas with waterfalls here during the winter to photograph them. i like that altoids tin spice kit too! i'd copy it but most of the time i just carry a 1 oz mini nalgene bottle filled with scotch bonnet pepper flakes and that's good enough for me, haha.

good to see you got to use your snow peak pot and emberlit...that emberlit is gotta be one of my most favorite pieces of gear. super, super efficient.

Thanks man, appreciate it. The Altoids spice tin is pretty cool. I got the idea from BCUSA. I also have a GSI spice missile, but haven't used it yet. I keep forgetting to fill it up, and put it in my bag. Here's a thread I did on it: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...e-Missile-Mini-Review?p=11912026#post11912026

It was fun to use the Emberlit and Snow Peak. Looking forward to getting out again. Good to see you come back around to Beckerland.

Awesome pics as usual, sir. Looks like you guys had a great time, love the camp cuisine.. I might actually be able to coax my wife into a hike if I took Mac and Cheese :D

thanks for the ride along man.. happy anniversary too!

You nailed it right there. Nothing better for the soul than a stroll through the woods. And thanks.

Thanks man. It's a beautiful area, with plenty to do.

Thanks man, appreciate it. We had a blast. Hated to come home.

One more Emberlit shot, haha. I love that stove:

When we were driving to go hiking, we drove past this old cabin. I snapped a shot of it on the way back, and obviously, made it look old:

Hey Dubz, great stuff, thank you very much for sharing the pictures.

The water looks gorgeous--I would have liked to see the falls in action, unfortunately it was the wrong season. I suspect you need to go back after the spring thaw?

Great looking pack, too. You and Murph almost convinced me into buying the map 3500 about a year ago when i saw yall chatting about packs in snark. I wish i had picked it up then so that my finances may have recovered by now :D

That emberlight stove looks really, really neat! I'd really enjoy something like that. Do you simply drop a tinderbundle in it and feed twigs, sticks, kindling, etc in to keep it going? I like the idea of this very much. How much did that run you?

Thanks for sharing and happy anniversary to yall!

The spring thaw probably would be the time to go. Here's a vid showing it in action:

The MAP 3500 is awesome, really like it a lot. About the right size. I weighed my pack for this trip, and it came in at 19lbs. About 24-25 including water. Not too bad.

The Emberlit is freaking awesome. Like I said before, I really bought it as a back up, in case my gas canister ran out, or out of alcohol. That's what I did. Scraped some cedar bark, fire steeled it, threw the bundle in the stove, added dried weeds, then small twigs. Finally, started inserting sticks into the feeder hole. I have seen where people put the bundle at the bottom, sort of hanging out the feeder hole, and filling it before hand with bark, twigs, etc, then lighting the bundle. I got lucky purchasing this. I paid for the ss model, which is $40, but they sent me the Ti model, which runs around $75. Super light, and super efficient. It took about 13 minutes for the water to boil, which, imo, was very good for such a windy day.

Great video, the falls look nice. Thanks for digging that up.

I may have to continue putting the MAP on hold, but gosh, it's a really great looking pack and obviously yall cant seem to say enough good things about it!

As for the emberlit. It looks like exactly the camp stove i've been looking for. I think i just may slip this into my cart on that big river website. They have the ss and the Ti. I think i may just stick with the ss for now. Do you think it would be overly worth it to splurge for the Ti? I don't know if i'd get 35 extra dollars worth of utility out of the Ti, though.

No problem. The ss model only weighs a few more ounces then the Ti one does. Like I said, I ordered the ss model. I didn't feel the extra few ounces was worth the extra money.

Here's a few photos the wife took. Will upload a few more later:

If it weren't for my face being exposed, my camo does an okay job:

I think the last set were some of the best! Those old stairs are cool and I dig that little teacup.
