Sheath Forum?

It would be great to have a place to bounce ideas around on sheath making, so another vote for a sheath forum here:thumbup:

I don't see HOW there isn't enough traffic or interest for a sheath forum. There is a forum somewhere on the this board every day about sheaths. Having all that in one spot would make the other forums less cluttered and put all the information we all want in one spot. I think having a sheath forum is a GREAT idea.

Here's another new voice advocating a sheath sub-forum. I'm not sure how there is no sheath sub-forum but there is a shaving sub-forum!?!? Sheaths have far more relevance here than shaving does, but that's just my .02.

Does it really take up enough resources to justify not having it? (I really don't know, and am hoping a computer person can answer.) I think Spark is the only on who doesn't want a sheath sub-forum! ;)

Sweet! :D

If we need 100 I'm sure I can drum up some more support. :)

Thanks again to all for the support of this thread. Of course, it will be Spark's decision. I respect whatever he chooses to do, as I love this forum so much. I began lurking here back in '98 or '99, but couldn't join for a long time because I had no internet access at home. This has been my virtual campfire for a long time, and I look forward to any time spent sitting around with my friends, poking the embers and occasionally tossing a new log on the pile.

I am glad to see so many knife lovers who have the same interest in the art of making sheaths. I love fine leather work and I'm fascinated by the delicate process of forming well-fitted kydex, too. I hope to find a place devoted to these crafts.

It might help if some of you upgraded your membership. These things take time and money. A good day to all!!

Yeah I got questions and would love to see a sheath forum resource. Battling one or two right now. Wuzda best way of gluing the alligator skin to the cow leather? Which is better, a belt loop folded from the back of the sheath, or a loop attached to the back? Why is the loop made from the back of the sheath folded into the mouth of the sheath? Why not fold it to the back? Any known pros or cons for any method? That's just me. I am sure others have queries they spend days on google hunting answers for. T'would be nice to have a single point resource.

Email me your questions as this is not yet a true sheath forum.

Superc, no better answer guy than Paul. :) Better take him up on that.

Paul, sheath forum, not yet, but soon, I can feel it in my bones.

or is that the rheumatiz? :p

I'm still all for a sheath subforum. I'd love to have a specific area where I could get tips on how to make sheaths. I also tend to purchase a lot of sheaths from sheathmakers, and would be very interested in getting to see the work of as many as possible.

By the way, are there any sheathmakers that have contacted Spark about moderating a sheath forum? If so, has there been any progress?
