Sheepsfoot blades are so much sexier than they sound. Show me yours.

I like things to be black and white, no point in having names to describe a specific shape, if the names are used loosely to describe different shapes. Not judging just commenting.

Don’t get me started on Bowies.

I also realize English and words are flexible and evolve.IMG_6013.jpeg

Can you imagine how cumbersome it would become if we had to have a specific name for just each of the variants above? At a certain point, terms like modified, quasi, etc become quite useful.

I imagine some old timer in Rome looking at a young'n and opining: "You call that a gladius?"

I agree. That is why I backed off my stance that they were not sheepsfoot and introduced modified into the conversation. Plus with pictures it’s all good.

I was biting my tounge until the “stretching the envelope” comment .

Eskimos have 50 + words for snow. We have one word to pair with thousands of adjectives.IMG_4832.jpeg

Yes.

Sheepscliffe.jpg

I like blades that skew more towards a Nessmuk shape. The flat-edge blade of an "authentic" wharncliffe or sheepsfoot seems like I mostly end up using the front half inch or so of the blade, where something with a little bit of curve allows more of the cutting edge to be used in more situations.

Nesscliffe? Wharnmuck? Sheepsmuck? Wharnfoot? Reverse Wharnmucksheepstanto? Maybe there just needs to be a name that nobody is happy with, so everybody has something to unite against.....

Funny, when I was going through my pictures, I was excluding quite a few because they were so obviously "Wharncliffes" not "Sheepsfeet" :)

For instance:

Then there is this one. Where the hell does it fit ? The knife that was not to be named .... :)

Joke aside, the last three are "Seaxes" in my head.
