ShepardCC: Custom Knife Scales & Backspacers **Books OPEN**

I came to the conclusion that I don't need to like the maker to like the knife and my favorite hinderers I bought on the secondary market so I didn't directly give my money to him. Lol.
Same here. I've never bought any of my Hinderers from him.
Haha yeah same here. I think I know bought one from a dealer.

For sure. You're not carrying the dude around in your pocket or cutting stuff with the edge to his personality. It's the knife you gotta like, not the man.

I have 6 CRKs that I love. Now I don't think Chris is in any way a bad guy and I sure do admire the company he's built, their CS, and his knives. He's not exactly warm and fuzzy, though, and sometimes comes off awfully hard with his communications. I've bought all my CRKs here, but not to slight the man or his company. The Exchange just makes purchases a good bargain and the savings on my Reeve knives alone are probably worth two of the 6 knives.

Yeah I totally understand that. Medford is kinda really nasty to people that customize his knives, so I've read. So I don't own any of them. I also don't really like them. I like the praetorian, but I like holes and flippers. That groove doesn't work too well for opening in my opinion. One handed opening that is. Two handed opening yea. But I like to be able to use one hand easily. Training has taught me to always expect the worst in any scenario. 2 is 1. 1 is none. Always expect the worst. If something happens to one arm or hand, you should be able to use your equipment with one hand efficiently and quickly. But lets be honest, 99% of us will never actually use our knives to the point of failure and most of us will never use our knives to save our lives or defend ourselves against another. So my point is moot. However the praetorian is made to be a tank and for defense. There are always multiple styles of fighting and defence. But they all break down to two basic things. Slow and powerful. Brutish force. Or fast and precise. big and clunky things don't allow for speed and precision. Always pros and cons to all things. lol

Anyway...long story short. If you are interested in hinderers now is the time. It's a buyers market and they are awesome knives. Flipping consistency can vary greatly so you may have to buy and trade for a couple to find one that really suits your tastes. Which is fine because you can try out the many different blade shapes at the same time.

So much for damping down my buying. :indecisiveness: I found a nice price on a 3.5" XM-18 Spanto and pulled the trigger a couple hours ago. I PM'd with the seller, who has good feedback and has bought and sold a bunch of Hinderers. He responded to my inquiry that he felt the detente was just right and the knife flipped easily with no wrist. I think my blade preference would actually be for the spear point, but the Spanto's kinda interesting, I'm thinking of the knife for a work user, and that tip should be wicked strong. Figured I'm trying out a new brand, I might as well try something different for a blade. Looking forward to getting it.

Chazzy, spantos are cool but I to prefer the spear and even the slicer. I want a sparrow.

I think I would like those two better as well, but thought I would give the Spanto a spin. Might make a good work knife.

Edit: Sparrow?

2nd Edit: Just searched and found it at Monkey Edge. That is a cool knife.

Skinner, Harpoon, and Sparrow are my favorite by far followed closely by the spearpoint and bowie.

Let me know how you like it. Then you can get a custom scale;)

Tart, is the word, E. So lemony it makes my mouth pucker and my eyes water. I can taste it from here, man!

Shep, is that yellow the one we traded? Never saw a yellow Hinderer, interesting. What's the story with the minion dude in your pics?

Yes sir. That's the spanto you traded to me.
I made the scale, backspacer, filler tab, and lbs.
The minion guy was given to me by an ex because I love the Despicable Me movie. That and a minion mug. I keep the little guy at my work station to remind me to get to work. Lol.

Yeah ChazzyP. It's pretty yellow...but it's really really growing on me! Vault 101 from Fallout. Minions. Lemons from Portal game series. Lots of good references to make me like it even more

Tanto Tuesday! Some custom red frag g10 scales I made for the CQC-7.
Available for sale if anyone wants them!

LOVE the Red. Thanks for the pix!!
I gotta say, I dig the Yellow too.
