Sheriff Longmire's Knife - Buck110

The new Longmire novel, "An Obvious Fact", hits the bookstores on September 13. Craig Johnson, the Longmire author, lives about 100 miles north, so maybe I should drop in and give him a 110, or maybe just wait until he comes to town for a book signing.

If Henry Standing Bear wore a Buck 110 on the show it would be one of these.... :D

Or maybe one of these...;)

Just to keep this thread on a Buck topic... If Henry Standing Bear wore a Buck 110 on the show it would be one of these.... :D

I did see him with a 119 or 120 in the episode when Longmire tracked the escaped convicts in the snowstorm, and Henry went to find him.

I thought it was a 119 or 120 as well, but I watched that bar scene frame by frame and Henry's knife is a standard Ka-Bar.

I'll have to watch it again, I was sure it was a Buck, but I've been wrong before, the curse of getting older.

You are all horrible influences...I just ordered the first 11 Longmire books as a set from the big river site. I'm an avid reader, so I prefer to read the book before I purchase the DVD's (no netflix).
Looking forward to reading a series with a Buck knife in it.

I have been watching the series for a little over a week now. 3 a day. Lol. Good series

And be forewarned that the books and show are only loosely related. Same character names mostly. Beyond that...

BTW, in one of the last episodes of season 4, Walt cuts duct tape off of Henry's wrists and nonchalantly closes his 110 one handedly against his right hip before tossing the knife into the back of his Bronco.

Was a really, really nice touch for those of us old enough to know how to do that.

So how do you close it one handed against your hip?

Thought you all might enjoy my brief email exchange with Craig Johnson that took place yesterday. Curiosity got the best of me.

Dear Mr. Johnson,

Thank you for giving us the Longmire books and television series. I'm a huge fan and can't wait for Season 6! I am also a member of the Buck Knives Discussion Forum where Longmire has a significant following due to the Buck 110 that Walt carries. We noticed that the knife is a "vintage" model with squared bolsters, which were discontinued around 1983. We're curious if there is a story as to why a Buck 110 was chosen for the part.

Sincerely,
Tom

That's awesome!!!

I honestly don't what will happen in our house if there isn't a season 6!!

Good and bad news - as far as I know, Netflix renewed Longmire for a sixth and final season.

In the books, Sheriff Walt Longmire uses a bone handle Case XX of unknown model. In the book "Hell Is Empty" on page 247, Johnson wrote; " I remembered that I had put my old bone handled Case XX in the zippered pocket in my pants, so I took off my gloves, retrieved it, and reached down to cut her free."

Sooooo, the real question is, what model Case does Walt really carry???

That's awesome TAH.

So, if they delete the 110 and go to a Case XX with bone to be more consistent with the book, we'll know why...lol

Thanks for book excerpt, jack. Interesting!

Pokt, hopefully, they will stay with the 110. For some reason, a full size lock-blade seems more fitting for a sheriff. :)
