Shining Rock Overnight: Insanely Picture Heavy Thread (Dial-up Beware!)

awesome pics brian... man that is a gorgeaous area...:D i need to head out for a little overnighter...:o

Looks awesome Brian, Seems like you like NC huh?

Great pics, those white rocks are amazing!

Didn't really get many knife pics, sorry. Here's the closest I have - my Gossman PSK, Jr. in its sheath on my shoulder strap, and the BRKT Aurora on my waist strong-side:

Did your brother have his own Aurora or was he sporting yours in an earlier photograph? Good choice. The Aurora and the SBT are my favorite bush knifes.

Thanks for the excellent set of pics Brian. Love that little campsite you found. Can't have too many photos in country that beautiful.

Thanks, Guys!

Bill, my brother was sporting the Fox River actually. What, did you think I could only stop at one Bark River knife??? :D:D:D

Nice pics Brian!

Not to rain on your parade, but it looks like you had something on your lens (on the center top of most pics there is a black blur).

Great area to hike. Been there in 2000. Really fantastic area.

Yeah, I was bummed when I saw that. I'll have to edit it out. Probably just a piece of something when I carelessly brushed against the blueberry bushes at sunset, eating them like crazy!

We were able to strip loads of bluebrries off the bushes without stopping on the trail and wolf them down. They provided a great boost in energy, plus the spiritual/emotional boost, because it's so cool to eat heartily right from nature while you're out there.

This is pristine wilderness. No wal-marts or anything nearby. It's definitely my favorite spot so far here in Western NC.

If you like the pack I am wearing, here's a more detailed initial thread with pics and review:

My brother is wearing my EMS rock/ice climbing pack, with an REI daypack and camelbak pack attached.

Beautiful country B. I'm hitting the timber this weekend with my buddy Ed (harpoon). Mountains of PA. Can't wait to get out for an overniter.

Thanks for the pictures, that looks like a very nice area. Once I get all of the Rocky Mountains explored, maybe I'll take a trip or two out east. ;) Threads like this are bad for me right now. Leaving for the Beartooths tomorrow night for a week-long backpacking trip, and I'm getting so excited I can taste the fresh trout we'll be eating all week.
