Shiva Ki

If he's already ordered a Spirit blade, it seems a fool and his money have already parted ways....IF he's still asking questions.

Absolutely no personal attack meant, leatherbird......maybe you're just independently wealthy and curious!?!?

Am I the only person who thinks Leatherbird is actually Shiva Ki?
I thought something seemed a little familiar here, but I just figured the foldingfreak episodes made me overly suspicious.

(Standing by until called upon to emit the mystical Pyramid Rays...)

Well, welcome to BFC.
I'm not sure it's a matter of smarts, but experience.
You've got to read a lot to figure out when and where to jump into a conversation, who you can say what to, and all the other little things that make this place work.
Wander around in here, and you're bound to find a lot of different folks with a lot of information, both good and bad.
Contribute what you can to make it a better place and it will work for you. ;)

Oh dear, this is not good. The spirit of Shiva Ki has been absorbed into the forum ..... Be afraid, be very afraid. This must be true, the voices are telling it's true ....

Hmmm. When I tried to "save" the pyramid, I got a message: "Permission of Mr. Torz Johnson required to save or print." :p

End? They do if one of the mods gets annoyed enough and closes it. That will pretty much end it. It might sort of end if people get bored with it and it dies a natural death but every now and then it will be resurrected and have a brief new life. This cycle may continue indefinitely.

Hey Leatherbird, I'd be very surprised if you don't really like the knife. I have one of his Spirit Blades, and it's actually pretty amazing. The blade is just a bit under 3/16" thick and about two inches deep. It appears massive, and your first thought is, "Man that thing is going to want to fall right out of my hand it will be so blade heavy!" Then you pick it up and and it's a revelation. And everyone you hand it to goes through the same shocked set of expressions, because what they see and what they feel don't seem to agree at all. (It made its way to everyone in the office (buncha retired cops; they look forward to "testing" my new blades )) The balance point is about an inch or two in front of the guard, and the handle is a work of art. Beautiful wood, nice stingray, comfy silk wrap. It is mounted in a very similar fashion to a traditional Japanese blade, in that you pop out a bamboo pin, and you can remove the blade and guard from the handle to clean it up. It is a very tight fit. Though I have not tried any rope, 1 1/2" branches of the pepper tree in my back yard come right off with a fairly mild swing. And the blade came very sharp. A high, convex final edge (a loose, 400-600 grit belt maybe? Very clean and uniform), but with enough meat behind it to be strong. And it's still nice and sharp.

Now, it isn't a highly polished piece (though it does have a very attractive grain and clay temper line), and the fit and finish isn't quite like a Dean. But you know what? It reminds me very much of the FEEL of a big damascus and stag Dean bowie that I had a while ago. Distal taper, light and fast in the hand, very solid. I let the Dean blade go because I didn't want to go out and scratch it up, and I don't like having too many blades around that I don't want to use. I enjoy using this one :) .

As for the man himself, he was always friendly and business-like on the phone, and he delivered exactly as he said he would. I read all of the stuff on here about him, and the stuff that he wrote. And yeah, some of it was less than appropriate, but when things get personal, they usually tend to start falling apart. In the end, I always like to decide for myself. Poisoning the well, I believe it's called.

Leatherbird,
Welcome to the forum. You deserve an explanation to why the pirates here are firing warning shots over your bow.
From what I know Shiva Ki makes a excellent knife. Sadly he was banned from this forum for being nasty and not playing nice. This happened in the recent past.

Also Shiva Ki..kind of writes like Yoda on Star Trek..

"order the knife you must" and that kind of rot..

anyway all the best...

You can do a search, just type Shiva Ki into the search window above. You should be able to find it.

I would be very, very interested in your feedback on the knife when you get it. Have you handled any of his work before? I have, two pieces, not big bowies. Personally, there are many other makers that I would be interested in spending the money on, because I simply feel that they are better values. Value is very important to me, but it is such a subjective term.
His knives might be worth their weight in gold to you.

Let us know what you think when you get it.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
